RE: Why Steemit NEEDS TO Mandate a Minimum Account Balance To Post

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

No, you aren't the one listening.
You want anyone below some made up limit to be relegated into listening, but not being able to speak.

Do you have any idea, little dolphin, how long it would take a brand new guy to make 20 dollars worth of steem through comments alone?

Your problem is you have lost touch.

"the problem right now is that even a dolphin like me doesnt have a say in the website"
And we thank heaven. You would take away the right for people to have a decentralized, open system. Your first thoughts aren't how to make the steemit website better, it is how to fundamentally change steem.

Twitter has about 6,000 tweets per second.
Steemit has less than 1,600 posts per day.

So don't give me that rubbish about how censorship needs to happen, and steemit just can't handle it...
Growing pains. That's all this is. And all you can think to do is destroy the fundamental idea behind the system.

In order to save steemit, we have to destroy what steemit stands for. Makes lots of sense.

Sort:

Your not FOLLOWING. IF STEEM HAS AS MANY USERS AS REDDIT TOMORROW THE NEWS FEED WOULD EXPLODE WITH A POST EVERY SECOND THATS WHY THIS SITE HAS LAG THE MINIMUM ACCOUNT COULD BE $5 OF STEEM THAT WOULD NOT TAKE LONG HOMIE THANKs

Temper much?

And your logic makes no sense, whatsoever. A post every second would actually be easy to accommodate over a websocket connection.

I'm going to try again, even though it is a bit like talking to a brick wall, here.

Every single social media site in existence, basically, allows all its users to post. Why should steemit, the only one touting itself as "decentralized" put in the most strict controls over who can and cannot post?

You've gotten rid of the decentralized bit then, bud.

A feed with a post every second wouldnt be readable. If they got rid of the "new" tab then yes they dont need a minimum account balance. But if someone wanted to spam attack today they very well could something to consider.

Okay. So now your point is that there could be a spam attack against the network?
Please tell me you know how silly that sounds.

Also, no. You can't read every tweet on twitter. You can't watch every video on youtube. Just can't work.

But the answer isn't to simply allow less content.

no, there isnt a feed for every tweet or every video. IF there was it wouldnt be readable it would be moving so fast. THATS WHAT IM GETTING AT YOU... YOU... you.. Inconsiderate person!! Ive have been on this platform FOREVER AND HAVE BEEN POSTING FOREVER. I know whats good about the site and I know what isnt. I started with nothing on this site look at me now. You think I have I besst intentions for myself and not the user base but htats not the case .

Ha. In what way have I been inconsiderate?

You just pointed out the solution yourself. Eventually, the "new" feed will have to either be filtered based on user preferences, or by some other factor.

For some unknown reason, you decided that if steemit only has 3 users allowed to post, then the problem of too many posts will be solved.
Even if you were to have a minimum balance, it doesn't stop the issue. Eventually there would be a mountain of people with the minimum balance, and the site would slow down again. And again. It isn't a solution. Then you would have to just silence more people by raising the minimum again. And so on.
Your solution Does Not Work.

But with your last comment, we get to the real root of the problem. "I know whats good about the site and I know what isnt."
Ego. Plain and simple. And my response, is that no, you aren't God's gift to steemit, regardless of what you may think.
