We have completed our pre-alpha version of inSpace; the code for the server-side implementation and the web client are ready and live on github here [https://github.com/inSpaceTechnologies] . We have also added some initial ‘getting started’ documentation in each of the repositories there. The web client is running but we have a little more work to do on the local sync clients before we make them live as part of the pre-alpha. I will post here when they are available.

Right now the inSpace pre-alpha can only be used by developers, as it requires you to understand how to setup EOS, and this needs developer level experience. Our next milestone, the inSpace alpha, will enable any user to use inSpace directly. For this to work, we need to finish the implementation of our own iScoin cryptocurrency running on the EOS main network. Once iScoin exists we can deploy inSpace onto the EOS main network and anyone can then use it from there on.

iScoin will be the coin required to get your inSpace account running over and above a basic free account with limited storage. As iScoin is completed anyone can start using the alpha release of inSpace as well as taking part in our ICO process. We hope to complete this stage in the coming few months. And I will continue to post updates here.

Unlike some other ICO's, inSpace is going to be releasing a very early version of the application at the same time as the ICO starts. This is a risk in terms of user perception as the alpha release will be the least functional version of inSpace. We are taking this opposite approach as some of the product is already working and users can see what has been done so far. Our hope is that people will like the direction, ideas and intention of inSpace and back us to help us polish the alpha product into the fully complete vision of inSpace.

Continuing in this vein my next post will cover more details of our iScoin currency, so everyone can better understand the dynamics that will exist for users within the inSpace community. We have thought hard about how we can reward community creators and backers of inSpace and this has now been built into our iScoin specification that I will discuss further in my next blog post.

Here is a more detailed list of what we have done in the last month.

  • inSpace pre-alpha is done and includes:
    • inSpace website, where you sign in using your inSpace account, and then provide an EOS identity via Scatter.
    • Upload and Download files from inSpace,
    • The Filespace EOS contract stores an index of all folders. The web client can fetch your Filespace tree from IPFS, display it as a force graph,
  • along with the pre-alpha some other things we did include:
    • Adding a version system for files running on IPFS.
    • Testing everything on our own EOS test network using the 1.0 EOS release code.
    • Went live with a skeleton roadmap for the future releases of inSpace post the alpha. This will continue to be added to, along with the inSpace features page over the coming months, as our planning for these milestones is completed. The inSpace road map is live here [http://inspace.tv/roadmap/] and the features page is here [http://inspace.tv/inspace-features/]
