UNCLOAK CAN CHALLENGE THE WORLD’S CYBER TERRORISM PROBLEMS

The digital age is an exciting one and for those of us who are experiencing the digital age in our prime, we are very lucky. Everything is connected these days, from our cars to our homes; we can literally control them from any part of this planet. The internet of things is also gaining momentum if it has not done so already and we are seeing more basic devices getting some type of software and hardware to connect them to networks.

In a bid to create utopia, we are trying to make everything as efficient as possible. The increase in connectivity is great and exciting but it also comes at a price. The more connected things are, the easier it is for people to gain unauthorized access to them. The safety concerns of connectivity inspired Uncloak to work on a security platform which promises to keep networks one step ahead of the hackers.

The dangers of connectivity

A few years ago, Yahoo was hacked leaving a large portion of its users vulnerable. Yahoo is just one case among many that we are experiencing in this age. Grand theft auto is also easier for those who know their ways around car computer systems and within a number of minutes, hackers can take control of your car and disappear with it. Theft of cars and other tangible items is just small fry for hackers; the major targets are usually corporations that house sensitive information. In the corporate world, some profit-minded executives can become so unethical to the extent that they hire black market hackers try and get information that will help them rise above their competition.

Hacking does not only affect big corporations; even small corporations are targeted depending on the needs of the hackers. Some hacks may have their roots deeply embedded in a target’s systems that even the employees become potential targets just so that hackers can get the information they want. With the internet of things growing, this may be potentially hazardous as anything connected to a network can be taken over by hackers or can provide an access point through which hackers infiltrate a network.

Better solutions are needed

In terms of protection, most companies hire IT specialists who install the latest firewalls and antivirus but this is not enough. Most of these companies base their software on vulnerabilities that had been recorded in the past and have no good way of protecting the networks from upcoming vulnerabilities. Tech does not stop evolving. Everyday hackers come up with new ways of by passing security software therefore a more preventive approach should be taken.

Dealing with threats while they are already in a system or dealing with them as they happen is no secure way to run any network as there is always the possibility of hackers gaining access but by having a system that can adapt to the ever-changing tech environment, then we can confidently say that there is hope for the security of networks.

The Uncloak solution

Uncloak is proposing a blockchain platform that is scalable, decentralized and with the ability to adapt to the security demands of the 21st century. Their platform is built on a simple principle really, unity is strength. They are banking on the white hackers in the internet community to help them create ways of preventing potential threats. A.I technology will also be heavily used to help track threats and weaknesses in systems and/or networks. Their approach is more preventive than curative in that it focuses on finding security weaknesses in systems instead of waiting for a system flaw to be exposed during a hacking attempt.

Uncloak will be built on the EOS platform which will allow developers to work closely, sharing the data they have for better security. The Uncloak platform works by involving white hackers in a fault-finding search and then addressing this problem. White Hackers mimic approaches that would be taken by cyber attackers to try and see how well a network would hold up against these attacks. When they find vulnerabilities, they share it with a potential threat database.

Uncloak will have a database of all potential threats and will be updating this database whenever new threats emerge. As a way of encouraging hackers to find more threats, Uncloak will use their tokens as incentives, rewarding each new threat found with their UNC tokens. The threats will however pass through other white hackers to determine whether it is indeed new and whether the threat is actually a threat for the tokens to be awarded.

The business model

Uncloak’s target groups are business enterprises both small and large. These are the ones that are most likely to be targeted by cyber attackers. Their services can be accessed through subscription to their services which is a monthly fee that is payable via their UNC tokens. They will also be charging for a license fee to allow third-party applications to run on their platform. Uncloak will also charge a fee for the use of their platform depending on the number of computers or websites scanned for vulnerabilities. These payments will be made possible via the UNC token.

For their crowdsale, the UNC token will be up for sale with different bonuses for each round of sale. Uncloak are hoping to raise enough money that will build the Uncloak platform as they had planned. The token sale is slated to begin on 26th June 2018 and end on 3rd July 2018, or earlier if hardcap is met. The presale is ongoing and ends 25th June.
