Daily Steemit Discussion: Are masternodes A Gimmick or a great feature?

So, what do you guys think of Masternodes? I personally think that masternodes are a great addition to any cryptocurrency if executed well. DASH's masternode system is a good example of this. I think the idea of rewarding people who hold large amounts of any given coin with the oppurtunity to gain more coins is a excenlent and smart idea, it not only incetivies people to make nodes, strengthening the network, but also encourages people not to sell their coins when the price increases by a couple satoshis.

But as this is a community discussion, tell me in the comments what you guys all think! I'm very interested to hear what the community also thinks about masternodes!
