Steemit Fails?
Below are the Cons and Pros. What it's supposed to be the other way around? Nonsense!
Bots:
Right now there are only a few. They almost seem cute. But like Gremlins you don't feed them after midnight. If ignored they grow, multiply. This needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Otherwise Steemitbot#69 will be spamming every other user to check out Viagra.
Distribution:
Steemit pays you too much for comments, and not enough for content! I stopped posting when I realized a few sly words would net me $6. Unlike my fan fiction, which got 1 penny. I think I'll buy Sia Coin. This isn't always true, but the sheer amount of content submitted by TrevonJB makes it more profitable to just say, hello on someone else's page.
Poor Gating:
On Steem I see in my feed, lazy MS Paint posts. One time I saw picture of a sneaker, and nothing else. That user made $14. There are several solutions. They better do something. Unless we want to see a return of the dreaded cat videos!
Page Design:
Can I color my words? Can I change my background? How about flashing text? Do I have any god damn options to edit my pages?! Hard to stand out when everything looks the same. I want my flashing hamster gifs to blind people!
Leeching:
Viacom did this back in the day. Theft of YouTube videos, then re-posting them on their site. To make money for work other people did. Facebook was no better. How sure are you I created this content?
Parental Controls:
Does it exist on Steemit? After searching I found a lot of user articles on it. But where's the company's stance? Ah found it! It's a blog post. "Don't directly ask for votes." Will do. Wait. I mean I won't do it.

Picture Quality:
After I uploaded a web comic I created, I noticed the quality was bad. It wasn't twitter levels bad. But enough to make my poor text bubbles illegible. ):
Community:
There are a few key features that have done an excellent job growing the user base. Did you know there's a chat room?! After trying it out, I am impressed. It just needs to be advertised more.

Easy To Use:
Title, content, done. Steemit makes it incredibly simple, fast. Everything from YouTube videos to MS Paint pictures.
Incentives For Positivity:
I've never been paid for being a nice guy. This is a great feeling. It makes me wonder why the hell YouTube couldn't do this!?
Payment System:
With little effort I'm making $1-$10 a week. Some people make a grand! If you succeed here, you can quit your day job. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Huge Gain In A Buy Out:
The meat and potatoes. We are holding onto those Steem coins for this moment. If it happens, you could be looking at $1,000 a coin! Have a thousand coins? Congrats you are a millionaire. Oh right taxes.... Have 2,000 coins? Congrats you are a millionaire.
Stability:
I've seen Steem survive crashes, and climb carefully through the gains. As an investor, this is what you look for. The next Netflix, Google didn't explode in a month. It took years of steady growth. Unlike most crypto coins, this has a service people will use. It could be that competitor to YouTube, Twitch!
The creators need to address the problems listed above and more soon. TrevonJB can't float the site forever. As of now, they are doing ok. Just remember business rule #1. Adapt or die. Steemit needs to show public they are more than another Viacom. Because we all know what happened to them. Because most of us know. ... Because some of us know.
I've seen a few bots since I joined about a month ago now. Bots are never a good thing and end up hurting communities instead of making them better. Why would anyone bother coming back to the site if you can setup auto posting and auto voting. Now it becomes just a bunch of bots chatting with each other instead of what steemit was founded on. Don't feed into this crap!
Interesting perspectives I'll give you that. Some good points about bots for sure.
Not sure if you're throwing shade on Trevon or just having fun with him but most folks here can learn a lot from watching how he sets up and executes his plan. He's making a ton and playing by the rules here as far as I can see but I'm new and don't know all the history.

I got 2 more in the works. One is a web comic on investing, and the other will be on making that sweet crypto money. I try to throw in some comedy, because the world needs it.
I've only been Steeming for about a week but this seems like a fair critique.
I'm almost scared of posting "real" content as it will be ignored by comparison of post engagement. Additionally, with the limited tag amount it greatly limits specific overlaps in communities and fandoms. The combination really plays up a few elements I expected upon joining, exacerbating not just marketing yourself fully but makes content that cannot be immediately, easily (and in many cases forgettably) posted a wash or at least risky regardless of substance.
