RE: ALIS - The “Steemit of Japan”? Thoughts on the upcoming blockchain-based SNS and digital token.

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Been following ALIS since ICO. They may not have a healthy team of Devs yet, but they do have individuals form Recruit who probably have very good connections. As you may know Recruit partnered with Coincheck and rolled out the POS app AirRegi for stores in Japan to accept BTC this year.

They are making progress, but I'm still skeptical of their model. Steemit was really brilliant in how they handled the economics of the platform with multiple currencies. Ya, we've had some HF's to tweak the system, but there aren't any other platforms even close to what Steemit offers.

ALIS does have an Ace up their sleeve though, a Japanese UI by a Japanese company. You can not beat that in this market and they say as much in the White Paper. It will be interesting to see what happens. I'm going to try to attend their Meetup later this month and get a better feel for them.

Hey, @rt395, thanks for the info.

I was not aware of that, no. Impressive.

I agree with you on Steemit’s ingenuity. It will be hard to match, but as you say, with the business model ALIS is pursuing, it may not need to be matched. Not in exactly the same sense, anyway.

I would love to go to the meetup but will be in the States at that time.

I hear you’re stopping by Niigata soon. I’ll try to come out if I can get free.
