What happens to bitcoin after hard fork?

I am new to cryptocurrency and I am still trying to understand what happens to bitcoin after a hard fork. It appears there will be one coming soon. If I have my bitcoins on Coinbase, do the double, or are they split into two? And if they split, where do the older ones go? If anyone has this info or where I can get further insight, it would be greatly appreciated!Bitcoin-Hard-Fork-300x300.png

    Please you can look what happen to eth @row73

    If you go google about ethereum hardfork you can see about what happen to them. The developer them split up in 2 team.

    Thats why we have ethereum classic and ethereum

    Now the classic is almot dead to to match security flow. Bitcoin is leak milions out in empty cyber space from old flow.

    As long people not lose to match profit no update need to be made...
