The Token Store is a #decentralized #exchange that does not rely on a third party to hold customers’ funds. Instead, trades occur directly between customers, on a #peer-to-peer basis. This makes decentralized exchanges, by their very nature, trustless. You do not have to trust the exchange to hold your funds on your behalf. Instead, you send your funds to an Ethereum contract. This contract is programmed to conduct a peer-to-peer exchange of tokens upon receiving promised funds from both parties. This makes transactions auditable, secure, safe and fast.

Trading on The Token Store incurs two types of fees:

1. Trade fee: charged by The Token Store on all Market Taker trades.
2. Gas fee: charged by the Ethereum network on all smart contract transactions.

Order creation does not require paying a gas fee as it happens off-chain. However, order cancellation happens on-chain, so it requires a gas fee. You can avoid this by setting your order to expire sooner rather than later.

Ethereum Gas Fees:

Every Ethereum transaction involves a gas fee which is paid to miners on the Ethereum network. On The Token Store, Ethereum transactions are required for depositing, withdrawing, trading and canceling. Creating an order is free as it's signed with your key off the #Ethereum blockchain. Canceling is not free as the order is canceled on-chain, however it’s significantly cheaper than other transactions.
