Kambria – Innovating Robotics Industry using Blockchain Technology
Overview:
Kambria is a decentralized platform which is aiming to revolutionize the robotics industry with the help of blockchain technology. It will remove the pain points of current robotic industry which include high startup cost and wasted labour. KAT token will be used in this ecosystem. Manufacturers can earn these tokens by producing robotic parts or robots and the community members can use this token for promotions of the robotic parts produced.
Challenges Faced Today:
The robotic industry has advanced over time and many robots have been manufactured with the help of computing power and artificial intelligence. But the adoption of these robots is still not seen by the consumers due to the high cost.
The other challenge faced by this industry is that engineers do not have access to efficient tools for manufacturing the robot design. This hinders the innovation to be seen in the robotic industry.
There also many technical issues which persists in this industry such as no good interfaces and abstraction layers are available for software, electrical and mechanical systems.
Solution:
Kambria is solving all the above problems with its decentralized platform. The founders of Kambria started a robotics company named, “OhmniLabs “in 2015. The company developed telepresence robots which was adopted in many homes.
Kambria is managed by Kambria International (KI). KI is developing this project to reduce the costs involved in this industry and thus will benefit companies, manufacturers and developers.
Manufacturers and developers today do not share their knowledge as there are no incentives for doing so and also there are many risks involved by sharing the knowledge and information they have. Therefore, they innovate in their own silos. Kambria is using blockchain to incentivize the manufacturers and developers which will develop the robotics industry. This platform also allows users to form small teams and collaborate.
Kambria Architecture:
Below are the elements of the architecture:
• Code Base (KDNA): Kambria DNA (KNA) is responsible for semantic module management. Hardware, firmware, software, electrical, and mechanical boundaries are integrated to build a robot.
• The Innovation Marketplace and Innovation Utility: This part take care of rewarding the users of the platform with KAT tokens whenever they contribute their work in the platform
• The Manufacturing alliance and Manufacturing Utility: Manufacturing alliance will enable top manufacturers to interact and share knowledge and resources with each other.
• Value Capture and Community Sustainability Utility:
The value which is created by the manufacturers and other team members for example by developing a robot which is completely usable, such values are captured by Kambria platform and it gives the value point to the manufactures and the team behind. These value points are used to give the reward to the contributors.
Team:
Dr. Thuc Vu - Co-founder
Thuc is a serial entrepreneur with multiple company acquisitions, the last one by Google. He has deep expertise in game theory, tournament design, and multi-agent systems. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford and B.S. from Carnegie Mellon, both in Computer Science. Thuc is a social entrepreneur in Vietnam, involved in several community projects.
Jared Go - Co-founder
Robotics & Blockchain Jared is an avid maker and roboticist, previously CTO and founding member at a networks startup. He has extensive experience in blockchain, AI, real-time graphics, VR, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. Jared is a Stanford Graduate Fellow, and has a B.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University
Tingxi Tan - Co-founder
Tingxi has a background in cloud computing, network infrastructure and distributed system design. He has been active in Crypto Investment since 2010. Tingxi graduated with an M.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Calgary and a B.Sc. in Applied Math at Western University
