The beginning of me starting on Cryptomining?

It has been on Youtube for me on Ads and other things. It has been bothering me quite some time. I have been wanting to get into crypto-mining but I'm not really sure. I know that bitcoin you must have a specific device that was made for it. For litecoin, I heard it was only GPUs. I don't have that much money in my wallet, but I want to get into this "trend" for 2018. Will people give me a bit of tips or either help me on where to start?
