Beware The Gang's Shady Methods | Steem Might Still Be Huge One Day

So there has been this lingering feeling about steem and its future that I want to share with everyone here, with all those who want to ditch this place completely because they have lost all hope that this will ever be worth their time any longer considering the grand new alternative.

Things have been weird in this place for way too long and the recent upheaval with the hardfork and the Tron mixup, in addition to the increasing claims of censorship on the steemit front-end have made it seem that it would be a great time to finally ditch this place and move on, to power down and get as much as possible out of the hard-earned SP we may have available while we still can. And I get it, I am thrilled about the new place and its prospects as well, it seems a no-brainer to let steem go and focus on the one where the ninja-stake is not an integral part of the economics. It really seems to be a great opportunity to finally make this blockchain succeed the way steemit always promised but never managed to deliver on.

HOWEVER.... seeing just how much influence certain shiny and propped-up personas carry in the crypto space and considering that the vast majority of humanity are not yet involved in crypto at all but may be one day soon, there is a rather decent possibility that the interests of the gang will culminate around making the specific project big which has been target of their concerted takeover attempts. I am saying they will not simply let that investment die.

Much like Google bought Youtube many years ago because they had large-scale plans for it and how to utilize it to shape public perception on Earth and to get humanity used to adhering to certain censorship tendencies in the name of fighting harassment - an investment of that magnitude is always put to "good" use eventually. Now look at youtube today. It's huge! It's more relevant than ever and the gang's investment (as well as all their efforts) have paid off for them immensely.

In other words (coming back to Steem) it would seem foolish to not suspect they will pump Steem like crazy the moment mass-adoption starts to get going (or to even set mass-adoption off through hyping Steem), regardless of the fact that Steem is nowhere near as promising as its recent hardfork. The gang are invested in it, and will not let their investment go to waste. They know that the people who remain here will have forgotten all about the mixups and problems once Steem's price starts to soar again, and they may even hope that most vigilant and noisy people will have powered down before Steem gets going again.

If there is anything that differentiates a popular from a non-popular blockchain then it surely is marketing and relentless promotion. It's the basis of how all scams work and it's the same with anything else that's popular: Once the hype train gets going people will want it. Will want in. Details become meaningless. If we think about it, the evaluation of blockchains' never had to do with pure quality but often with the direct and indirect levels of marketing and managing public perception.

Certain questionable movers and shapers in the control structure will make Steem as appealing as they can to the masses, hoping that most will never find out about steem's weird history and the more promising alternative. The gang that has attempted to take control over this place will trust that their propaganda network, connections and investments in this sector will be put to benefit them directly, namely to pump steem and thus their own investment.

It's not like the crypto community is not vigilant and remembering shady details of the past but when new people come to this place they will be overwhelmed by the hype about the original steemit narrative. And how "convenient" then that all the people who have made a lot of noise on here, who have called attention to unjust measures and the lacking of meaningful progress of steem despite its once huge advantage... will be gone and will have powered down completely.

Sure it's not a guarantee and sure steem might just fail long before then and all I have written here is pure speculation. But I have a feeling that certain people have grand plans for steem in regards to making the crypto space appeal to more people. If we can afford it maybe we want to ride that hype train up when it is set loose, not banging our head against the wall when millions are put to market steem one day and we have already powered down everything we had.

We must not underestimate the psychological and financial resources big players in this space have to make projects seem more appealing than they actually are. Not that the technology, community and vision behind both projects isn't totally awesome, it's just that I see Steem as tainted now compared to its alternative due to its ecomomics. And the people have spoken.

Is that a guarantee that the more democratic variety will succeed financially? NOT AT ALL.

And if Steem is hyped one day with all the resources behind it to make it seem like the best and promising thing ever - that will be the time for a great sell surely - provided you haven't powered it all down when Steem was at its bottom already.

I am saying: Don't bail too soon, think of it as a chess game. Steem is not yet done. They need it.

I am not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice
