TheKey is creating some big hype with a Twitter pre-news announcement: They have tweeted that they have partnered with two major companies. Or, in their own words: Two MULTIBILLION DOLLAR companies.

PRE-NEWS

Now, it's no official announcement yet and no names are known, but a Tweet was made by the official Twitter account earlier today:

Pre-announcements are kind of shunned nowadays, because many false or disappointing pre-announcements have left a bad taste in investor's mouths. Still, '2 multibillion dollar companies' is a lot less vague than we're used to when it comes to pre-announcements. The only way this can disappoint really, if it's an outright lie and there are no multibillion companies and that seems unlikely at this point.

If you've been following my blog for a while you may know that I'm highly excited and very bullish on TheKey. It is the premiere digital identity project on the NEO blockchain and will play an integral role in both NEO and the Ontology Network blockchain. TheKey is similar to Civic, but better in the sense that it works with existing infrastructure on the web. I wrote a more detailed ICO review a while ago, if you want to learn more about TheKey. I missed out on the ICO but eventually bought some when they appeared on Kucoin just recently.

To make a long story short: TheKey is a very serious project. Not only is it's founder The Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneur in China of the Year (All-China Women’s Federation, 2017), but TheKey is being widely adopted already.

People get excited when the Chinese government partners with a blockchain, but few projects can compare to TheKey (TKY) in this sense:

  • TheKey is currently in use for mobile social insurance pay in two Chinese pilot cities, which people can receive their payment for their pension, or healthcare insurance reimbursement. It is being deployed in another 41 cities, covering more than 130 million people in China (!!)
  • The personal identity data of 210 million people in 66 cities, authenticated by the relevant government authorities, are connected on a real-time basis.
  • Six relevant national laboratories have been set up together with government agencies, banks, insurance companies and one university.

Recently I read an article, where the author actually visited Jaixing in China, which is one of the TheKey pilotcities. It's very interesting to read about, and see pictures of TheKey being actually used in Chinese hospitals right now.

It's worth a quick read or glance-through to see what it's like.

It is clear in every way to me that TheKey is a player that is not to be underestimated. If they are shouting about two multibillion company partnerships - I am inclined to believe them until proven otherwise.

COULD IT BE MICROSOFT?

Interestingly, at around the same time of this news, Microsoft has released news as well and in particular about their desires and intentions to embrace public blockchain for use in decentralized identity systems. They mention Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum specifically, and not NEO, but speculation has obviously run wild. Microsoft certainly does count as a multibillion dollar company.

But I myself would not ascribe to this theory too quickly. I feel if Microsoft were interested in the NEO blockchain, they would not have singled out three other ones in their posting. Still it does show the massive potential for digital identity solutions, and the interest of huge corporations in it. And while I doubt it is Microsoft, I do think it could be along the lines of companies like Baidu or Alibaba.

Of course, as a NEO holder I am also very interested in the implications for NEO if one of these tech-giants opts to use a NEO-based digital identity solution: could they perhaps adopt NEO itself as well?

It's going to be interesting keeping an eye on the news to see where this goes and if the actual news matches up to the announcement. I'm glad I bought my stack of TKY just the other week, in any case. I'm holding this one for at least a year I think. Kucoin is the place to go to buy some today, but I expect that Binance will be listing TKY soon as well now that they have added RPX as the first NEP-5 token.

Kucoin enabled withdrawals, by the way, so you can now withdraw your TKY to your NEO address (just like ERC20 tokens go to an Ethereum address) and store them securely. The NEON wallet is not updated to show the TKY tokens yet, even though they are on your address, but an update will arrive soon to include TKY as well. There are confusing workarounds, but you can also simply use https://neotracker.io/ to check to see if your TKY arrived at your address, and wait for the new NEON version to be released like I am.

Personally, I feel like a rockstar, seeing my NEO, GAS, RHT and TKY all bundled on the same address. NEO is really going places. And so is TKY.

But of course, do your own research.

this is what I hate about companies. Absolutely hate it. I bet you they are hoping for a pump and they will cash out up to the announcement period. this is another form of insider trading. I respect companies that don't announce until its final and then announce it. Companies like these lose credibility, trig used to do the same thing.
