Stratis Development update: Breeze wallet upgrades, Masternodes, Full nodes and Stratis Academy - slightly different date than reported earlier
The Development update from the Stratis project that was expected and announced has arrived and is viewable on the Stratis website. Some updates differ slightly from the earlier announcement, mostly in release dates.
The first update is regarding the Breeze Wallet version 1.2, which will be released October 23rd. This version will feature Bitcoin and Stratis running side by side in the same wallet, improved transaction details, privacy and fee estimates. Stratis has a pretty good privacy set-up, and by combining Bitcoin and Stratis in the same wallet they are making it extremely easy to start Tumbling your Bitcoins once that becomes possible.
The second update is regarding the upcoming Stratis Masternodes. Masternodes being added is rather big news in itself, and the way Stratis describes it is interesting to say the least. In the Stratis network, Masternodes are service-providers. The first service that they can provide will be the Breeze Privacy Protocol, powered by Tumblebit. This will enable users to scramble their Bitcoin and STRAT transactions, making them untraceable and anonymous. It will be interesting to see what other services Stratis has in store for Masternodes in the future.
Masternodes are said to go into alpha on October 30th, which differs from date of October 23rd that I reported earlier.
Other tidbits from the development update are some improvements to the Stratis Full Node (different from Masternodes) and the underlying Proof of Stake code, which are on schedule to be released in Q4 2017. Stratis also reports that their Stratis Academy is almost at the stage of delivering a Minimal Viable Product.
These are hard times for Stratis holders - as a holder of STRAT I know all about it, but my high hopes for this project remain and I do believe that we will see previous highs before the end of the year. For new investors, today's prices are an absolute steal.
Good to see some positive news on strat. I've been taking a hit on this one. Hopefully it bottomed out and we can start up-trending again.
I know what you mean! I have/had high hopes for Stratis, but it sure cost me! Still holding though, good things are on the horizon and I feel Stratis is simply overlooked and misunderstood by many.

Do you know how far they are in terms of smart contracts?
And is this being developed open source?
I believe smart contracts are on the roadmap for either Q4 2017 or Q1 2018. Not sure about open source. Stratis is aiming to sell complete blockchain solutions to corporations, so if they open sourced their code perhaps others could just copy it and use it, so my initial guess is no? Then again the power is in the blockchain itself, so it would be as pointless as copying the bitcoin code. I'm not sure to what degree the code needs to be open source in order to built on top of Stratis - because that is the point of it all.
