OmiseGO (OMG) posted an updated Roadmap 👎
OmiseGO has posted another development update in the form of an updated Roadmap. This is the roadmap that was promised last week in last week's development update by the founder of OmiseGO. This version of the roadmap is labelled v.1.
The roadmap doesn't deliver much in the form of dates, contrary to what one might think when thinking of a roadmap. It is a lengthy post of a somewhat idealistic and poetic nature that describes the different stepping stones that OmiseGO plans to take, each phase being named after moves from the Chinese traditional board game 'Go'.
The first step, combined projects called Fuseki and Sente, will focus on providing wallet SDK's. Step two, Honte, is aimed at laying the foundations of the Plasma network (on course for delivery in Q1/Q2 2018!). The third step is Aji and it's goal is to provide a FIAT gateway. The fourth step is Tesuji, which will elaborate on the Plasma network. Tengen is the fifth step, which will implement Tesuji on the finished OmiseGO network.
Beyond this updated (is it?) Roadmap the post contains some of their recent successes and partnerships with Global Brain and Krungsri Bank (MUFG) and a lot of symbologic references.
It may come as a small disappointment to investors of the OMG token, who surely hoped for more concrete or exciting news after the announcement of the updated Roadmap was made last week. There is little noteworthy news in this that was not already widely known. This is something we've grown used to however, as it isn't the first time that non-news is hyped up in advance by the OmiseGO team. Regardless, it is good to see that projects are generally advancing nicely.
I believe in the OmiseGO project, but I think valuations are a bit on the lofty side considering there is no working product, just a whitepaper. Seems TenX is one of the few ICOs that is delivering.
OmiseGO is close to delivery too though, Q1/Q2 of 2018 will be big. And of course, Vitalik and all the major companies involved are a big part of the price. Maybe Charlie Lee needs to endorse TenX or something!
Do you think they will actually deliver a working product, or at least a beta version, on the deadline, or is the tune going to change at some point?
For example, the Golem team just keeps pushing their deadlines for the mainnet Brass release.
Yes/No.. Generally I expect delays mostly to be in the Ethereum backbone and Plasma development... that's almost a given IMO.
However, I must say that because OMG has this tiered approach, that means they are developing parts to be working 'in the meantime' while they wait for the Plasma parts to be done.
I do expect OMG to implement staking soon (they said so) and I do expect a working wallet soon too. My personal idea is to start looking for sell options in Q1 2018
I'll be very impressed if they get the wallet and staking done by Q1 of 2018.
It's time to keep buying while it's cheap because 2018 will be the year where OMG will go crazy =)

While I appreciate the philosophy of development, I would prefer to see real results. Contrast OMG to a coin like Ark, which produces and rolls out their technology is a consistent way. I think the valuations of the two coins should be reversed. I hold both, but think OMG needs to deliver.
I agree, the whole philosophical aspect of this 'roadmap' bothers me as well
Everything else should be fine. Only thing I see taking longer is Plasma that is exactly why its the last thing on the roadmap. Its a big undertaking and it will take a lot of effort and learning to get plasma up to task. Even vitalik said plasma won't be implemented in to eth blockchain for 3 to 5 years from now. its a long project but it will likely come to omg before that.
