List of Cryptocurrency Coins and Assets with special features for Investors and Traders such as Dividends & Discounts

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Many cryptocurrencies are actually more like Digital Assets than Digital Currencies. There is an increasing amount of crypto on the market that offers special features to investors/holders of their token. This is usually done to incentivize holding, as opposed to selling, for market price stability, or as an intrinsic feature that gives the coin value for investors and traders.

I am trying to make a list of all the current cryptocurrencies that offer additional value to investors and traders of cryptocurrency.

I have identified a few different kinds of special features that coins currently offer which are of particular interest to those who are mainly interested in cryptocurrency for a trading and an investment perspective:

  • Dividends in the form of rewards for holding/staking the coin
  • Discount on trade fees
  • Voting rights on the network (with which you may influence transaction costs, for example)

Voting rights are pretty commonplace and only really beneficial if you are a huge whale, so this list will not focus on that, for simplicity's sake.
If you know of other features than the ones mentioned above please do let us know

DIVIDEND EARNING CRYPTOCURRENCIES

Dash: With Dash owners of 1000 Dash can opt to setup a Masternode. Every Dash block that is mined, the miners receive 45% and the Masternode owners receive 45% also, as well as collecting transaction fees. At the current price of Dash running a masternode is a costly investment, although there are ways to share a masternode with others.

PivX: Similar to Dash, PivX also has Masternodes that operate similarly and require you to lock up 1000 coins, but PivX is quite a bit cheaper per coin to buy than Dash.

Stratis: Stratis allows for coins to be staked to generate a dividend. This requires the wallet to run continuously in order go earn rewards.

NEO: Holding NEO in a wallet will generate GAS, which is used to run smart contracts on the NEO blockchain. You do not need to keep the wallet online or active, and there is no minimum required amount in order to generate GAS.

OmiseGO: OMG token holders collect part of the transaction fees on the OMG blockchain which are made by users of their decentralized exchange as well as from every transaction made through their payment channel.

TenX: PAY token holders collect 0.5% of the total transaction volume made by TenX card users

WCX (ICO stage): New upcoming Decentralized Exchange coin which will pay out 20% of the network transaction fees to token holders

Iconomi: Similar to NASDAQ, Iconomi is like an investment fund but for crypto, that invests in the entire crypto market and pays token holders part of the profits

STEEM: Yes, STEEM too used to have a Savings Account that paid out a nice percentage annually. Unfortunately it seems to be reduced to 0% now. Why?
Steemian @funkit points out in the comments below that Steemit also offers the option of Powering Up which provides some interest.

Komodo: I know little about this project, but it too offers staking of coins without having you have your wallet open.

NEM: NEM: 10.000 XEM entitles you to harvest from the network fees (thanks @funkit!)

Ark: Voting for certain delegates gives a cut of the coins they forge (thanks @funkit!)

Lisk: Similar to ark, just more complicated (thanks @funkit!)

Dimcoin (ICO stage): 30% of the network fees goes to token holders. 50 tokens required.

note: moneylending crypto's, bitconnect, etc. I have disregarded mostly because it's not my world

DISCOUNT PROVIDING CRYPTOCURRENCIES

Binance Binance is a new Decentralized Exchange with it's own token which offers a significant discount on the trading fees associated with using their exchange.

0x: I have not done my research too well, but I believe this token will offer discounted transaction fees too

This list is likely incomplete and focuses mainly on the bigger cryptocurrencies. Do you know a coin that should be on this list? Let me know!

Also, if you know of any other features that a coin might have besides the ones mentioned in this article, please do share

Sort:

You have forgotten a few:

Obits: pays dividend and shardrops

Ark: voting for certain delegates gives a cut of the coins they forge

Lisk: similar to ark, just more complicated

Nem: 10 000 xem entitles you to harvest from the network fees

Steem power: gives interest. If you doubt it, go to an account with more than 100k sp. reload the wallet and see it change.

Dimcoin: 30% of the network fees goes to token holders. 50 tokens required.

Great finds, some of them I didn't know about yet!

I will add Ark, Lisk and NEM to the list as these are pretty big too, and will add your comment about Steem power. Dimcoin I will add too because all ICO's usually bring in a few million at the very least these days so it may end up in top 100 possibly. Obits I'll leave out of it for now, mainly because it's small and I'll have to draw the line somewhere with regards to this list.
Thanks!

Obits is great. I like it a lot.

I might add that bitshares plan to adopt the same system. They have room to grow. But for now it is nothing.

What an extremely useful piece! Thank you. This helps a lot. I've been looking for something like this. I already own Steem and Iconomi and I'm looking to get TenX, NEO, OMG and Stratis. I am intrigued to hear about WCX. Going to go google it.

You're welcome!
Actually, if you use this link you can sign up and receive 50 WCX tokens (worth $5 today) for free. Its a referral link, if you use it to sign up I get some free WCX tokens. https://wcex.co/?ref=XSGi60ri

You'd really make my day, since I have not gotten a single referral yet 😞
Once you sign up, you get a referral link too, and if you can find some friends to sign up you can get a bunch more tokens perhaps. It's supposed to hit exchanges in a month or two. Fingers crossed!

"You do not need to keep the wallet online or active, and there is no minimum required amount"

Staking doesn't work like that unless it's done from a server

Not on list BRO [Bitradio] 2500 for Master node, any amount 1+ could stake in theory, but expected time is way too high if balance is low...
need to keep wallet synced and running as all proper PROOF OF STAKE coins

Also you can get small amounts free just listening to radio

Ah yes some of these coins are staking coins others are not. I approach it from an investors point of view: which ones will earn me more crypto. So this includes several different methods of earning 'interest'

I did not know about BRO/Bitradio, but I see it has a market cap of about 1 million. That makes it an extremely risky market. For this reason I also excluded Chaincoin from the list for example.

lol you have upcoming thing on the list, but you exclude those that have low market cap a.k.a space to grow...

But there are like 800-900 crypto's... can't list them all

Well it's your list so do whatever you want...
