Who was behind the WannaCry Ransomware?

Could it be North Korea ?

Many fingers are pointing to North Korea as Security experts assume that hackers from North Korea are behind the WannaCry ransomware which in May infected 200,000 of computers around the world, encrypted data and demanded bitcoin to decrypt it again.

But what really happened? Could it be true?
