Imposters on Twitter!

Foreword

First of all, I would like to excuse me in advance for my poor English skills. It's rusty and been a while since I used it. But I guess you guys are still going to understand, what I want to tell you.

Since there are a lot of Scammers and Imposters on Twitter trying to gain money from gullible people I want to show a Thing or two so People overthink their action. I'm mostly gonna use Justin Sun's Profile, founder of the tronfoundation, for showing you the little differences between the Orginal-Profile and the fake Ones.

Send a certain Amount of ETH and get back some TRX

Always, nearly always there's a Message under a Post, who tells you to send a certain Amount of ETH and get back a lot of the desired Coin you may already invest in. These Messages are probably Scam, see the Image below.

You can clearly see the Imposter copied the whole Profile form Justin Sun, even the Username does nearly look the same.

Orginal: justinsuntron
Fake: justiusnntron

In this Case, the Imposter uses a phenomenon inofficially called Typoglycemia. He changed a few Words in the Username to confuse your mind and this is working pretty well for him. Just check the Wallet-Adress on etherscan.io and you will be staggered how many People sending him Coins.

How can I see the differences?

Well, there are a few simple Methods you can achieve that. Let me show you some of them.

Twitter Checkmark !

A good Indicator is the Twitter Checkmark, it means the Account got verified by Twitter itself. You need to provide a lot of Information to get that Mark.

Read more about the Twitter Verified Accounts

Tweet from Justin Sun (Verified)

Tweet from an Imposter, see the Checkmark is missing. (Unverified)

Keep in Mind that the most People on Twitter don't have that Checkmark, but this doesn't mean that these Accounts are not legitim. There are a few more ways to check if an Account is Fake or not, so please proceed below.

Check out the Profile and their Followers

Simply click on the Profile of the Account you would like to Check. Compare the Accounts... use your common sense!

  • See if there's the Twitter Checkmark
  • See when they Joined Twitter
  • See if there is a Biography
  • See how many Tweets they made
  • See how many Followers they have

Use the Official Website

If you still unsure if you got the correct Account. Try to find it on their official Website, the most Websites got their Staff linked.

Giveaways

The most serious Founders are not doing Giveaways with asking to send them Coins in Advance. The Giveaways would be based on other premise.

Use your common sens

Just use your common sens, always question critically and you'll be fine!

Final Words

I hope this "Guide" will Help some of you. Please don't be too hard to me, since it's my first Post on steemit. I will continuously edit this Post so if you got good suggestions to improve this Post, don't hesitate to provide it to me. Thank you!

If you indeed like my Post, I would appreciate a Like.
