Cryptocurrency and what it isn'tsteemCreated with Sketch.

The realm of cryptocurrency is exploding and yet no one really knows why. Obviously, there has been strong indications of where the technology can go but what about the use of it as a currency?

As it stands now all the cryptocurrencies act more like a highly volatile stock and less of a currency. Even the SEC has started to classify it as an investment.

As 2018 starts and the market continues to grow with more ICOs and broader adoption. The real question is when/if any of these "coins" will become a useful currency.

Yes, I know some Asian countries have started to accept some of the cryptocurrencies as forms of payment but it will take a lot more movement for full adoption.

What do you guys think will happen next?

Will the involvement of banks push this forward or crash the market?

Will bitcoin get their act together and update the platform without another major split?

Just some food for thought.

Cheers,
NH
