Stellar also has an interesting partnership with IBM who is scaling up its division dedicated to assisting enterprises implement blockchain technology. If they use the Stellar platform, it could gain traction for the adoption of it. I also read somewhere that Stellar is actively engaging a Lightning network as well.
You are right in saying that Stellar is in partnership with IBM. And that it will be using Lightning Network for its scalability improvement, not that it needs saving right now but it is to enhance faster transaction that maybe required later on.
For its Lightning Network implementation it collaborated with Stellar advisor and Bitcoin Core developer Jeremy Rubin.
