Let's encourage more coin dev's to post (or repost) their [ANN] and discussions threads here on SteemIt

in #cryptocurrency8 years ago (edited)

Given how central the concept of cryptocurrency is to SteemIt, it makes sense for developers of existing and new cryptos to post their [ANN} and discussion threads here.

It's a win win.

  • They get to expose their currency to a wider audience.
  • SteemIt gets more exposed to crypto enthusiasts.

They need only # [their currency] to create a tag page where anyone take the pulse of all the discussion around their currency.

Bitcointalk is fine however it's largely preaching to the converted. Here they are much more likely to catch the eye of someone being introduced to crypto for the very first time.

What am I missing?

NB - I'm talking posting the whole ANN/ OP not just a link to it!

Agree, but....

The usage of the site is already very crypto-heavy and this can be a bit off-putting when trying to attract users from other verticals who find many of the top-ranked posts and categories impenetrable.

So, yes, attract crypto communities, but let's also attract others.

I see your point. However I think we're very much in the 'Facebook-on-one-campus' phase. The content reflects that. We should at least be branching out to more colleges!

I think SteemIt will explode over short period of time (not sure when) or not at all. When that Steem train does leave the station, all this crypto-talk will be but a blip on the SteemIt landscape behind it. Right now, we look at 100 'up votes' for a post as rarified air. That's probably right given there can't be more than a couple of thousand active user on here at present. We all know those figures don't bear comparison to number of 'likes' and active users on Youtube or Facebook.

I guess what I'm saying is there aren't enough crypto buffs in the world to deter adoption if we can get the wider public to truly grasp the SteemIt proposition.

Facebook on one campus is very different from Steem in one vertical. It is easy to expand from one campus to 10 to 100 because students are similar everywhere, of the same age group, share similar interests, etc. It is difficult to expand from crypto to other verticals because most outside of crypto can't even understand the crypto categories much less the headlines or post contents.

Anyway, as I said all forms of outreach are good at this stage and I'm working on reach crypto community members as well as reaching others.

Id be happy to promote CLAM and DC(DarkClam) around here, ill be looking forward for this.
