$3.5 Million Reward for Information Leading to the Recovery of Binfinex Bitcoin Theft

The hunt begins for $72 million in stolen bitcoin.

Bitfinex, a large Bitcoin exchange, is offering a sizable reward of $3.5 million for information leading to the recovery of their stolen assets. Bitfinex was hacked earlier this month and lost $72 million in Bitcoins. The exchange has reopened, but customers are not happy as they are sharing in the loss. An investigation is underway and law enforcement is involved.

The reward is 5% of what was lost, equating to about $3.5 million dollars.

This is where things get very interesting. For that kind of money, lots of independent security researchers might apply their skills to attempt tracing the digital footprints in an attempt to track down the perpetrators.

More likely is a lower level accomplice of the thieves may choose to turn in others for the reward.

Let's see if there is honor among thieves.

probably depends how much the lower level accomplice got in the first place.

...and how mad they are about being a lower level person, the representative split, if they think the others will give in first, level of emotion, fear of being caught. Lots of juicy factors.

That's quite alot of money... Great one.

Will it be enough to entice the greed of accomplices?

Sure it should be enough, but it depends now!
