Faucet Review - playforcrypto.com

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

If you define a faucet as a way to get free cryptocurrency, then playforcrypto.com certainly qualifies. But not only are you earning altcoins, you're playing a game as well. It's a fairly standard snake game, with arrow keys and WASD as controls to turn the snake, but the twist is that the snake is gobbling altcoins. The more coins the snake eats, the longer the snake grows, and the more altcoins you earn. Just make sure the head of the snake doesn't run into the rest of its body or your game is over.

The Good

  1. Choice of Crypto - You can pick from 4 different cryptocurrencies every time you play. 1337, Gulden, GoldPieces, and HYPER are all available. I like 1337 because it's a PoS coin. I typically withdraw it to my 1337 wallet on BTCPOP and leave it alone to stake and grow. But all things being equal, I tend to pick whichever one is having the worst day on the markets, as the lower the price of the coin, it seems like the more of that coin you can earn by playing. Payouts seem to be graduated according to the markets. They've helpfully included the current price of the 4 options in the header of the site, to help in your decision.Screen Shot 2017-06-20 at 5.06.32 PM.png

  2. Varying Difficulty Levels - There are 2 options that help to keep you from getting bored with the game. Obstacles give you two moving bars that you have to avoid while trying to eat the coins. It's ok if the body of the snake hits the obstacles, just not the head. Also, you earn an extra 6% payout if playing with Obstacles. Buffs/Debuffs give you colored dots on the board along with the coins. Hitting these dots has various impacts to the game, such as inverting the controls or slowing your snake way down. These 2 features keep the game interesting and add an extra challenge.

  3. Simple, Functional Interface - There's not a ton of functionality on the site. It only does a few things, but it does them well. This is a refreshing change from many sites that are covered with ads, stacked collapsible menus, etc. If you want to play the snake game, you click the Play Snake link. If you want to see your account information, you click the Account link. It's pretty straightforward.

  4. Quick Withdrawals - I've made withdrawals to several different exchanges and wallet sites and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my coins. My transactions have also always been for the promised amounts. I've never had an issue withdrawing coins from the site.

  5. Daily Play Bonus - For every consecutive day you play, you get an extra 1% payout. This can add quite a bit to your earnings if you're willing to make an effort to play every day.

The Less Good

  1. Withdrawal Limits - You can only withdraw up to half of your account balance at a given time. At worst this means you can never really close out your account. At best you've got an inverse wheat/chessboard problem (google it). You can keep withdrawing half over and over, but you quickly reach a point of diminishing returns. I don't see this as a huge problem, as these are free altcoins that aren't really worth that much in real world value, but it struck me as less than ideal so I listed it here.

  2. Ads - The ads are not intrusive, but they are there. Without the ads, the site likely couldn't function, so they are a necessary evil. The worst one is upon initial login you get a pop-under ad, but it's easy enough to close, and the footer and sidebar ads are easy enough to ignore.

In Summary

I've been using this site for about 3 weeks now, and over that time have accumulated several thousand 1337, about a half a Gulden, and a smattering of HYPER and GP. Overall it's been a good way to accumulate some cryptocurrency for a bit of minor trading and staking, and it's more fun that answering Captchas for crypto at other faucets. They've also got a dice game in the works, so I could see this site being something I use for a long time to come. If you'd like to try it out, I'd appreciate if you clicked on my referral link below.

Thanks for letting me know about this faucet. Just like I would rather post on Steemit than Facebook, because steemit pays me ;) if I'm going to play a game on the web, I want to get paid too!

I don't like how I couldn't put 1337 as a tag on this article because it said tags have to start with a letter. Anyone know a way around this?

Very good blog. I was about to post a similair post. Blockchain is here to stay, therefore we shouldn't look at what most people invest in but in the real quality projects, with great teams, management and a great product. Some people are still investing in "an idea". Is an Idea worth 100m+ USD to you? I found this great website: https://www.coincheckup.com I'm really happy with this site that gives complete coin analysis for every single crypto.
