Let’s look at the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) for Joy Token.

When looking at blockchain products there is something I call the “Food Chain” that measures where the project fits in on the blockchain ecosystem. Joy Token is somewhere between a protocol and a platform.

The whitepaper indicates that the Joyful Network is a platform for developers to build games without dealing with the legal complexities. In this sense, Joy Token is a platform for developers to submit games to the compliance protocol that the team is establishing.

Creating the protocol for making games compliant then offering those games for sale in a casino targeted app store is are two huge strengths that differentiate this product. These strengths allow Joy Token to be a gateway for casino game developers and for casinos to introduce new and exciting games.

The third strength of this product is the most important for users and likely regulators (in the future). The component is the full transparent gaming algorithms that are embedded into smart contracts and that allow the entire history of payouts to be audited by anyone with access to the ethereal blockchain explorer.

The main weakness of this product is that the team, although highly experienced in online casinos and marketing, lacks experience with blockchain technology. With strong enough coding skills or through hiring additional devs this problem can easily be mitigated.

In order to ensure confidence in the project, a smart contract audit by a respected industry auditor would be welcomed.

The second weakness is the lack of online presence for the partner Playcosmo. Playcosmo is a live, fully licensed, online casino yet the amount of information found online about it is minimal. The teams should work together to make the partnership more visible and effective.

The online gambling market is growing approximately 10% per year and is becoming legal in more and more locations. In 2018 the online gambling market is expected to reach $51 billion.

This large-scale growth is without the mass adoption of online gambling in Asia or the U.S. In Asia, most currently outlaw online gambling while in the U.S. it has been legalized in only 3 states. As these markets open to the industry, it will continue to grow.

It’s possible the transparency provided by blockchain based gambling games may eventually be the catalyst that allows countries to trust the industry.

The threats in this field are two-fold, competition related and government related. The blockchain gambling sector is a popular one with over 80 existing or planned projects. With this many projects in the field, it’s important to differentiate in somehow and Joy Token has chosen to be a provider of games to casinos and to create a gateway for game developers to create higher quality and interesting games.

The threat of government regulation is shared among all cryptocurrencies in this field. It’s possible that a government will “ban” a cryptocurrency or outlaw online gambling. Both of these threats would have a huge impact on Joy Token.
