While I have used shapeshift, I dont regularly, or basically ever, so... mehhhh.
But having said that, its always disappointing when crypto companies operate like every other big data business, swallowing up as much personal private data as we will allow, or leave behind accidently. Ugh.
Ultimately these services will split into centralized platforms that will bend to regulatory requirements and decentralized that will not. Unfortunately, given the limited capital and organizational structures for decentralized platforms, they will lag behind in these services and features in the short term. However, decentralized solutions will be the big potential for future development given the demand for these services without giving over your privacy.

Thanks for covering this. I read about it a couple days ago and it's very disappointing. I use shapeshift for a lot of micro transactions. Blocktrades can be a good alternative but it doesn't have much variety. Thanks for the info!!!
What about Shapeshift integrated in "anonymous" wallets. Any clue how they will handle this?
I could be wrong, but Exodus wallet knew about this long before us. Exodus switched over to a Binance exchange feature in their wallet over a month ago. I think they dropped shapeshift for it. Other wallets will probably do the same!
I think they were getting hammered because of KYC standards of other exchanges.

It is sad news...but lives go on...Shapeshift was a very handy service. What options do we have left???
That is a major potential blow to my Jaxx wallet, hopefully they find another solution. I think this might just make Binance even more money, hopefully we see the rise of another decentralized platform to give more options and competition.
