In my opinion we are seeing large investors that move their funds into or out of their portfolio consisting of preset percentages of selected cryptos. Therefore we see the price of coins moving in synch despite the fact that their technology differs significantly. I see this as a new development. Previously, new investors would buy BTC first and only later diversify into alts.
