Greek police arrest one the BTC-E administrators
Yesterday several internacional news agencies echoed the following news:
《Greek authorities arrest a Russian man suspected of laundering $ 4 billion in bitcoins.》
Shortly after it was known that this arrest could be linked to the BTC-E.com website and that the arrested could be one of its administrators.
In most newspapers, this news continued as follows:
《The man has been accused of laundering about 4 billion dollars since 2011 using the bitcoin currency online. The Greek police said they had been running a criminal organization that owns, operates and manages "one of the largest cybercrime websites in the world"》
While it is unclear, it appears that when police refers to one of the largest cybercrime websites in the world they mean BTC-E, which is a cryptocurrency exchange website.
This shows three things:
Some institutions consider everything related to bitcoins to be criminal.
The US government is "chasing" all business related to cryptocurrencies, especially after the SEC resolution, that has made the United States a very difficult place to carry out a cryptocurrency ICO.
Don't leave your crypto on exchanges. Exchanges may eventually be targeted.
Apparently, anyone who had money on the BTCe website before the arrest, when trying to access their funds, will have find this message as the only answer for a few more days:
It is therefore advised once again to avoid having money in the "exchanges" "And choose to keep your cryptones in other types of wallets.
