The point? ::
Instead/as well as liking a post/video/tweet you could also tip using ReddCoin. They trying to place themselves as THE social media currency. ZERO fees for sending and receiving.

In operation? ::
Yes, you can tip in twitter, reddit and twitch.tv Does not look overly complicated, but nether is it a one click operation ether. New browser based system on the way .

Competition? ::
Comes from a few direction. Networks that are made for tipping like steemit and yours network. And other coins that could full the function of ReddCoin that already have large user bases – thinking Doge and Dash. Lastly, if it did gain traction, I am guessing the social media giants themselves might take note and take action. Being browser based would help though.

Advantages ::
Zero transaction fees
Huge circulation (will be around 28 billion) which should keep the per coin value low
Been around for a while

Of interest ::
From their road map for 2nd quarter 2017 “Inclusion of many popular social platforms (Facebook, Youtube, Twitch, Twitter and others) via browser plugin architecture acting as a bridge.” Could this be the cause of the recent spike in price?

Watched an interview where John Nash says they actually not approaching the social media giants – seems like the main reason being that it would give them more control than they already have – I guess that is plausible.

Also worth noting, at the end of this interview, he says that Redd ID’s will probably be sold with this money going back to the miner. But they see value in the ID itself as you could, for instance, sell a blog/twitter handle/ channel with that ID as a money making venture. Interesting.

My feelings on the project ::
The trend of people switching to non traditional media for some their entertainment/news is not going to stop. Most are becoming content creators themselves in some form or another and would value a system of giving and receiving a reward as recognition for good content. I think ReddCoin has some advantages due to being designed for this task - as they not looking to be included into the media platforms, but run on top of the browser - I guess we will have to see how many steps it will take to actually tip someone. As with most things, the less steps, the quicker it will adopted. I do own a tiny amount - bought with out research - so figured I would start with it and decide to keep it or dump it. Keeping it. Will pick a new coin tomorrow.

This will just be a series of notes on some altcoins/projects that I am looking at. Not looking at trading them, more long term speculation. My very simple trading plan would be to sell half if the coin doubles and let the rest of the “free” tokens run. But I probably will have the urge to complicate it with rebuy levels and more sell levels! I am not trying to decided if it is cheap or not, I think that is an impossible question to answer as you have nothing to base it on. I am more looking for projects that to me, seem viable.

Please let me know of any mistakes and glaring omissions - sure there are plenty - so do your own research before jumping in

interesting i havent hurd of Reddcoin yet, where did you buy your coins from? and it would just be used to tip people who post on Steemit? or any social media platform? what does that grant you thou exactly? Is it like tiping your server?
seems like a neat idea, just curious how its gonna go about, and why people who tip someone for writing a post

I bought through bittrex, but available on other exchanges as well. Well, incorporated into your browser, you could tip anyone on any social network - once that part is released - which should be soonish.
