The Real Reason Blockchain Technologies Are Here to Stay

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

I am not going to pretend to know what world would be in 5 or 10 years from now. Those who claim they do are most likely trying to sell you something. One thing I understand though is that blockchain technologies are far more efficient and safe than their FIAT counterparts. This is what gives them an edge. They are not perfect, just more efficient.

Banks and their customers are struggling to cut the middle man off the equation and this is partially why Ripple is gaining such momentum. Ethereum on its part provides an entirely different perspective, one that will not take place unless everyone is accustomed to at least some basic skills of programming. This is already happening since programming languages today are essential much like it was required to know English a couple of decades ago.

We are living at the dawn of a new era. Most of us are just spectators with little power over the markets or specific industries to really make a change. Perhaps those trending cryptos are just the facade for something new and better. Perhaps only a few of them will survive at the end. Don't worry too much if you "haven't gone in early". New opportunities will keep popping up. Investing is the key here. Not trading.

Even here in Steemit the average person can still take a glimpse of the blockchain revolution. One doesn't have to believe that Steemit is going to be the next Facebook but at least getting to know the workings of this technology can prepare anyone for what lies ahead. One doesn't even have to risk money. Just do the same thing you are doing in facebook and the blockchain will reward your efforts. It is that simple. There is great potential and the rewards far outweigh the risks given than what we do today in other social media is basically labouring our hours for free.

The early adopters of Bitcoin now understand the massive potential. They are able to create new companies and offer novel solutions with their gains, slowly bridging the great divide of the Crypto and FIAT worlds. This is where we come in. Steemit is much like Bitcoin in the early days. Sure there will be other similar platforms but being here already would give an edge to anything that pops up in the future. There is great content in Steemit that can keep even the average person updated with all the "blockchain happenings" and the contributors are more than helpful assisting getting their feet wet. Even if nothing of all these works at the end, the idea of the blockchain is guaranteed to create new solutions for problems we are all facing in our daily lives.

I noticed a slight typo.

Is that simple.

It should be

It is that simple.

Steem on.

Thank you. Corrected.

You're welcome. Happy to help. Followed!

revolution , for sure.
ripple? not a fan. as stated in my last post, it's against everything i feel thta blockchain should be. ripple does not try to cut the middleman imho, but enslave him.
eth, steem, bts and some interesting projects to come seem to be on the righ track.
BANKS are scared..and if they can't fight the progress [and really can't] they will join it..with ripple. I know ppl made huge profit on it, but i'm boycotting.
Other than that, what blockchain will do in the future is insane..the possibilities are ridiculous.
Have you seen this ted talk?

I haven't but will check it out.

It doesn't matter if banks are scared. They try to diversify and rather cover their asses. Blockchain is not the answer to decentralisation. Sure we will have banks trying to get in but that is a good thing. With blockchain there is a potential for anyone to be their own bank. At the end it offers a choice. It won't eliminate their power but it will surely reduce it since they will have to compromise with the rest of the market.

Hopefully. The real problem imho is education. I mean, looking around, people are so behind the tech..you see it everywhere. So getting people to be on the blockchain where you can't call anyone if you lose your key..that's unfathomable for most over 50s i think. It just can't be happening. And make no mistake, people will lose their keys, forget their wallets etc etc. you know..
It will take a lot of time and maybe we need something in-between before we go "each a bank" mode. But the possibilities yes...

Oh for sure it will take time. The youngsters of today, the 10-year-olds are the future, not the average middle age man. I think patience is key here. nothing else.

Well done :-)

I don't think so. The skill needed to create a proper smart exceeds most people's ability, including professional programmers.

So in this respect nothing will really change, or quite the opposite: more and more of us will be reduced to passive consumers, not creators.

hej :)
