Google Bans ALL Crypto Advertisements Like Facebook Does

Recently crypto advertisers noticed their ad views dropping suddenly. At first, Google claimed it had nothing to do with their policies, but that is now changing. Beginning June this year, Google is banning all advertising that involves cryptocurrency including trading advice, ICOs, and wallets. Even the most reputable cryptocurrencies will not be allowed to have Google ad products. According to Scott Spencer, Google's director of sustainable ads, "We don't have a crystal ball to know where the future is going to go with cryptocurrencies, but we've seen enough consumer harm or potential for consumer harm that it's an area that we want to approach with extreme caution." This will affect not just Google search results, but also Youtube and third-party sites.

In January, Facebook banned any advertisements involving cryptocurrencies. I recall a post @biddle created a couple weeks ago. They said, "Facebook has implemented a seemingly full lockout policy to those who would promote anything related to Blockchain." When @biddle tried to advertise about an educational convention, Facebook replied, "We do not allow ads that promote financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices, such as binary options, initial coin offerings, or cryptocurrency."

None of us like misinformation spreading or deceptive ICOs, but eliminating all crypto-related advertising is extreme. What are your thoughts? Is this extreme or fair? How will this affect crypto prices and adoption?
