I first heard about this new decentralized internet project called Substratum a few days ago. Since then, I've been compiling information and researching it. So far I like what I've seen enough to go ahead and buy a few tokens. They're pretty cheap right now, around .36 cents and holding.

But the first private beta test has only just happened recently. It was successful, as can be seen in a video on their YouTube page. Public Beta coming this month supposedly. (Just in time for the end of net neutrality? hmm..)

I have a good feeling about this one and if you read on, I'll tell you why.

What is it?

Decentralized web right in any browser.

How does it work?

"Substratum builds the decentralized web by leveraging the power of the individual. Anyone can publish, anyone can participate, and everyone is welcome to browse."

Network at a Glance

1
HOST SERVES CONTENT

2
NODES TRANSMIT DATA

3
WEB VISITORS SEE CONTENT
Websites display in any browser, just like normal.

Why substratum?

"Information wants to be free, not locked down by censorship or net neutrality laws. Substratum provides tools anyone can use to help keep the internet accessible through decentralization."

This project looks solid to me and I see a great need for this to happen. What do you think about Substratum and what they're trying to do? Are there any similiar projects out there that you know of? Tell me in the comments!
