Bittrex is delisting Agoras Tokens (AGRS) by 9th March 2018 - a good time to accumulate?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

So recently I've been spending time researching Tauchain / Idni Agoras ever since the first proof-of-concept code was released. It's not an easy project to comprehend on the surface because it requires some technical knowledge in language, logic, mathematics, and computer sciences. My lifetime of thoughts skirting around the periphery of some of the related subjects certainly helped, but in no way am I nearly competent enough to even assist in its development.

One thing's for sure, I'm quite convinced now that the project is light years ahead in design compared to 99% of the blockchain projects out there. The lead developer, Ohad Asor is perhaps one of the smartest people I've come across with the right skills to get the job done. Just go through his blogposts and chats in the IRC channel. It's like watching a high-functioning watchmaker piecing together the greatest masterpiece of all time. Not sure if I'm exaggerating, but I'm certainly thoroughly impressed by his work.

I'll get into explaining this project in the coming weeks if I manage to gather my thoughts and confidence in writing about it myself. In the meantime, there are already some accessible explanations through some of the earlier supporters in the project including @trafalgar, @dana-edwards, and @flis. In short, the few major points for me are:-

  • A protocol with a metalanguage that doesn't impose the idea of a single universal language.
  • Revolves around an expressive, self-defining, and decidable logic.
  • Ability to scale discussions and deduce knowledge.
  • Ability to create truly secure smart contracts with mathematical proof of outcomes.
  • Many more. It's important to note that all these wonderful features aren't disparate elements crammed together just to compete with existing projects. Again, it would take some fair amount of research to appreciate the consistent and coherent design decisions involved. I think I'm still just scratching the surface.

Needless to say, I've been a little obsessed about the potential of Ohad Asor's long-term vision, and have been spending time accumulating over the past couple of weeks when Agoras Tokens was floating around $2.00-$3.00 even though I've actually bought some when it was below $1.00 about a year ago. I guess I just have more confidence in the project ever since looking into the rabbit hole.

So with the recent Bittrex announcement of delisting Agoras Tokens (along with Maidsafe due to legal technicalities) just a day or two ago, the price has plummeted back into the $1.00 region, hitting every single one of my orders on the way down. Just when I thought the price can never get to this low again after the long awaited proof-of-concept, opportunity is here again for the bold. The fundamentals of the project have not changed. It's more likely just panic dumping in the wake of the delisting notice.

Currently in my universe, there's nothing more important to support with my spare lunch money so I'll be collecting more. For science. Hopefully, the major bottlenecks of organising communities and attaining on-the-fly consensus will be a thing of the past when Alpha is released sometime this year.

Many thanks to @dana-edwards, @trafalgar, and the Steemit platform for making the connection and allowing me to discover this wonderful project. I'm very grateful to have had my head nudged into this direction, away from the many distractions in the blockchain space.

many praises to Ohad Asor. He seems to be someone that I as an average joe would never get to meet in my life time. How wonderful technology can still spread the word about him. Now to the nitty gritty. If one can not trade agoras on bittrex then where would I get the token? Thanks.

Bittrex is available til 9th march..

Thanks for the info. I've looked into Tau before and there's no doubt this guy is brilliant. But it really appears that he needs some help on the business side. Investing in a project with good ideas is one thing, but as we've seen in crypto, they generally don't go too far unless there's someone involved who can impress investors and relate to markets. Is there any hope of that here?

I think the team will start marketing when the Alpha platform for scaling discussions of any size (while deducing knowledge) is done some time this year. Let's say if it works great even for 5 people in a discussion, people could potentially start using it just to stay competitive if not anything else. At the moment, they're going to update the current Geocities-era website haha..

Bizdev is a concern when you have the Cardano with Charles Hoshkinson who is arguably the best in the business at that. It is true that partnerships and bizdev make the difference between a market cap in the hundreds of millions vs market cap in the billions or tens of billions. Tauchain has the potential for a market cap in the hundreds of millions or tens of billions but as I've expressed to Ohad himself this is all going to depend on strategic partnerships.

I agree with you that Ohad himself is not the best person for that job. I do not know exactly who should do that but Tauchain in my opinion requires partnerships in academia, at the very minimum, just to attract enough brain power to develop it.

Thanks for writing your thoughts about the AGRS token @kevinwong. It's good to have people, who give non computer scientist a chance to understand more about very promising projects and tokens. I think now, the time where you can just buy any token and make a fortune is over, so it's good to get to know what really can make a big change!

Owww, Bittrex seems to de-list more coins and tokens lately. Any idea what exchange will support Agoras still, other than Upbit which seems to be not available in english language?

The team is working hard to add to more exchanges, hopefully some substantial listing by 9th March..

Oww cool!

I still can’t claim to understand this whole project, but reading Dana’s translations of the vision really sold me.

Stoked for when you start covering more of the project - am sure it’ll provide some excellent insight and clarify things better... :-)

Oh man it's so difficult to write. I've been at it for a month now! Hard to find other stuff to write about though atm. My mind's just stuck haha..

Sometimes not a bad thing to take a break and recharge. I’ve been writing steadily, but honestly feel it’s been getting to be kinda shit, just going through the motions. Definitely healthy to step back and refresh. Or maybe just time for another aya ceremony... most likely. Lol.

Agoras Tokens... am a little excited about this one.. at $1, it wouldn't hurt dropping a few bucks on it. With the description your giving it, the price might shoot up any second.
This is something laudable from Ohad Asor. I know it when it comes to technical knowledge in language, logic, mathematics, and computer sciences.. this is what makes a coin powerful to withstand any errors in the system. Am glad they have taken their time in coding. Am going to check out Ohad Asor's blog posts and responses in the IRC channel to get to know more about him and where this project stands so far. Otherwise we need to put in some big money on this before the price escalates and we end up regretting not to have taken a shot at it when it was still early.

It's a project that understands itself, as weird as it sounds lol :)

Ah, @kevinwong, would that I had the technical knowledge to better understand this. Will share @Trafalgar’s post with the missus, who’s better versed in this sort of thing, in hopes of acquiring something more by osmosis 😊

Also, look forward to hearing more from you once you processed it, ‘away from the many distractions...’

Good Sunday ✌🏼

Wish I have an osmosis medium as well lol. Check out the blogpost from the dev himself: http://www.idni.org/blog/the-new-tau

I think I've read it like 20 times..

Haha, will do, thank you ✌🏼

An excellent overview and Tauchain is a universal programming language that can be used to express any knowledge, rule or process. He works on a blockhouse that supports a wide range of functions, including contracts, applications, scientific evidence, legal documents, etc. This development is based on numerous inventions in the fields of theoretical mathematics and computer science.
At Tauchain, Agoras will be created - a decentralized intellectual economy capable of supporting a wide range of applications, for example, a trading platform for the exchange of self-verified code: people buy and sell code, checking for bugs before payment processing. Among other applications, there is a market for computing power and a decentralized search smart system. As for the drawdown of the price, it is possible that this is a certain game of bears before take-off, so you are right, now need to carefully study this token! Thank you @kevinwong

This is ithe best opportunity to buy some Agoras tokens and right now who market is bleeding and a single bad news about a cryptocurrency can easily makes it bleed even more badly and that's what happiness with this great project and because of the bittrex delisting news people suddenly started selling off,

That's really common case in cryptocurrency market but as always people's fear give us a chance to buy a great project in cheap price 😅

Thanks for telling about this great project i will definitely buy some after a little bit of own research @kevinwrong

It's so painful that some of us have this "knowledge" yet little or no cash to invest. Goodluck with your dip-hunt.

If you've taken a look at @trafalgar's post on it, he really gave one of the best advice ever, at least for me - spend time looking into this project :)

Sure brother 😇 thanks for giving me some important reference.

Buy it from where though? I think another tactic could be to develop plans to earn it if you cannot easily buy it. Sooner or later there will be jobs which need to be done and AGRS will be used.

time to jump down another rabbit-hole myself! Understanding about Tauchain is gonna be a tough one for me. But i guess i have the time and motivation to do it.

I do have a question tho. Do you store the tokens offline?

Yeah AGRS is an OMNI asset on the bitcoin blockchain.

You may hold on Agoras on the Bittrex exchange, on https://www.omniwallet.org/, or in any Bitcoin address to which you possess the private key such as a paper wallet

But bittrex is delisting Agoras soon?

Whelp.. into the rabbit hole of OMNI layers i go!!!!!!

Try a small amount first..

Of course! Thanks for shedding the light on Agoras to all of us.
