Ken's Half-Baked Ideas #6 - Why Even Bother Investing In Stocks

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Too much information. Too fast. This is the first problem.

The second problem - this information flow spills over, creating a murky swamp of new ideas that I write down, but never have time to fully flesh out.

The solution - put the ideas on Steemit before they're "finished," - drain the swamp - and let other Steemians play with the ideas they think are worth playing with.

So here's this post's Half-Baked Idea (drumroll):

Which stock allows you to buy half a share? A quarter share? A millionth of a share? None that I know of.

Which cryptocurrency allows you to buy a millionth of a share? All of them, as far as I know.

If you're a small time investor, this is a huge benefit. It means you're able to invest even if you have very little cash to spare.

Which stock can be sent to a friend instantly? Can be used to buy and sell goods? Hmm? Only cryptocurrency can do that, as far as I know.

Which stock trading platform allows anyone in the world to create their own stock for others to invest in? With Bitshares, you can do that.

Which stock can be tied to another asset through a smart contract, guaranteeing that its value will remain stable? Sure, dividends might be able to do that, but someone could always break the contract and screw you over. Not so with a smart contract. The code will execute regardless of the counterparty's level of honesty.

Which stock has the potential to be the financial heart of the internet? EOS has that potential. And probably others I haven't yet heard of.

So why even bother with stocks? I mean, until they're on the blockchain.

If you think this idea has potential, feel free to expand on it and post to your own Steemit blog.

Until next time , Sayonara, Adios, and something else I forgot.

Very interesting and intriguing! How could you think of these ideas? Amazing head and brain. I am trying to digest what you have written. They are quite a bit above my head. You are looking very far into the future world. Yes?! What will happen to money in the end? Upvoted and following your ideas.

Thank you Kaminchan. Actually, I'm just restating information that's already out there in a different way.

And this isn't far into the future. These cryptocurrencies exist now and are being used by many people. Steem is one that you are using right now. Every time you upvote you're sending someone a little money from a collective pool. And the Steem Dollar is a smart contract based cryptocurrency that is always worth one US dollar worth of Steem, at least.

On Bitshares, there is BitUSD which is also pegged to the US dollar in the same way. There's also Bit Chinese Yuan, Bit Euros, etc. You can actually get on Bitshares and make Bit Baht if you want! It just has to be backed up by enough Bitshares.

The future is here right now. But most people just don't know yet.

Thank you very much @kendewitt. This makes me more certain that things will change dramatically in less than ten years. This is quite scary. I have to catch up with very dynamic reality. It will be very hard for people who could not cross the divide. What sort of a world are we creating? A big test for humanity. Bye for now.

Yeah, maybe a little scary. But the technology will keep evolving and getting easier and more accessible to people who don't understand how it works, just like the internet has.

I can imagine a future where the paper money you have is actually a digital display showing the value of the bill in cryptocurrency. That's something anyone could understand.

Or a digital paper concert ticket. Oh, look! My ticket just updated! I'm the winner of a backstage pass! I get to go backstage and meet the band!
