Did you know that Cardano has some interesting names that are linked to the project? See below

1- Cardano

The project name is unclear to me BUT I would guess there is name is related to Gerolamo Cardano, a great mathematician and actually, a polymath (you can google his name). Cardano was the first mathematician to make systematic use of numbers less than zero, he used probability and numbers to survive and make his living in games (using probability - nowadays banned in Vegas).

2- ADA Voucher

This is Cardano's currency and even though I could not find a direct relation, I believe that this has been named after her Ada Lovelace (1815–1852) - credited as the first programmer. This seems to be a very good name for a currency, since it is also catchy.... Excuse me sir, how many adas is this shirt?

3- Daedalus - the wallet
Greek-Legend-Daedalus.jpg

From the Greek mythology, Daedalus is the father of Icarus - yes the same one that flew too close to the sun. There are so many qualities to Daedalus that I would need a longer post.... Daedalus is credited with the creation of the labyrinth of Crete, which held the ferocious Minotaur.

According to history, when Daedalus was escaping from King Minos (this guy had a complicated life) that was looking for him from city to city, Minos, upon arrival in each location he challenged the people there with a riddle he knew only Daedalus could solve (Minos was also clever). He presented a seashell and asked the people to pull a piece of string through it. When Daedalus came forward and tied the string to an ant, placing the ant at one end of the shell and honey at the other as bait, thus having the ant pull the thread through the shell. Daedalus dies - at least not by Minos. The point is that that your wallet is clever.... ... but must be managed.

4- Ouroboros - the algorithm

Interesting enough for a blockchain algorithm being named after this is ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail. Just see the image above. Remember that Egyptian serpent deities can be disorder that surrounds the orderly world and is involved as well as in it cyclical renewal. Well, blockchain 3.0 is Cardano.

If you are not a crypto buff, you would't know that Cardano is divided into phases - very cool, which means that the currency will be actually used soon. These phases can be found in https://cardanoroadmap.com/. The phases go from Byron to Voltaire.

5 - Byron - current phase

Centralized currency named after Lord Byron - your English teacher might have just mentioned (if you are a millennial you may have never heard it). Look for She Walks in Beauty in the internet... Beautiful

6 - Shelley - next phase

Named after Percy Bysshe Shelley, English poet - look for his work - or don't look - but his history is a book itself. This will be the decentralized phase (we will be able to mine the currency).

7- Voltaire - last phase

Even though the pen name Voltaire is famous, his real name was François-Marie Arouet, he was a Enlightenment writer, historian, and philosopher and always attacked the established Catholic Church and Christianity. He was a big advocate of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and separation of church and state. OH separation of currency and state. Blockchain... What a way to end the roadmap.

Disclaimer: I do not encourage people to invest in crypto and I am not a Financial adviser. This is my personal opinion.

Interesting to bring history into the space of a cryptocurrency. Also, I learned a new world reading this article, the word polymath.

@chesatochi I leaned in my childhood I think but the research to write this brought me the memories. Like history inside history inside personal history.

Interesting observation :)

What is crazy is Cardano is yet to deliver and very over valued if they don't.

Most of the new coins are overvalued in that point of view. With trillion dollars mcaps incoming in the near future, most of them are undervalued. Just try to see the picture in 2020. Cardano/Ada will be a top 3 cryptocurrency. No doubt.

Completely agree. I hope they deliver all that they are promising...

@goodies4uall I completely agree. I hope they deliver. This could be the next big thing or nothing... Let's see what happens...

Cardano terminologies are quite peculiar and really could attract curious individuals to go searching for its meaning or where these were derive from. I myself have searched this the first time I encountered Cardano.
As per the future of Cardano, I hope they do what they preached and I hope they become successful with their experiments, and leaders will remain faithful, because if not this will become just like another failed companies who made big promises but did not happen during the dot com era. Gains could be big but investing is quite a high risk. Bitcoin I guess was quite less risky to enter with during its inception because of its decentralized nature which is not run by any company nor any individual, fast forward now at least tested already for 10 years.

Wow, this is very interesting. Thank you for your information.
