I love Bitcoin and love what you are writing about Bitcoin and I have Bitcoin and yes Bitcoin is the grandfather of cryptocurrencies which are competitive, cryptographic, currencies, and Bitcoin uses a pretty complex code system (cryptography) which is stored on a bunch of computers all around the world all at the same time and the system automatically keeps itself synchronized as a measure to keep transactions protected even if you were to hack into some of the computers, even if you were to blow up some of the computers (servers).
