It was announced that a Japanese crypto exchange was hacked, stealling roughly 400 million dollars worth of crypto. They are saying it is the largest hack since Mt. Gox.

Japan is saying that they are doing everything to reimburse those who lost coins.

The sad part, other than the loss that many experienced, is that Japan was one of the first countries to fully embrace crypyo. Im not sure what this means for the future, but we did experience a downturn in crypto yesterday.

We will find out soon enough whether or not fellow crypto holders will get their money back and whether or not this will lead to tighter restrictions.

Fingers crossed this will just be a blip on the screen.

Yeah. With the popularity of the cryptocurrencies crime increases too.I heard they stole more.. About 700 million This wasn't the first attack, remember Nicehash

I think it is neat that the people who created the coin that was hacked is working with the exchange to identify the coins that were stolen and will be flagging them as such so no exchanges will accept them for trade or cash out. I think in a situation like this, the stolen coins should be flagged and burned and new ones created and redeposited. Of course legitimate transactions might be caught in the crossfire but I would think the recovery of $400 million is more in the best interests of the community vice a few people being caught in that.

wow really unfortunate Japanese crypto exchange hacked so they now bear a huge loss of up to 400 million dollars worth of crypto

Unfortunately this is not unbelievable, hopefully the hackers won't drain all of the value out of cryptos. I can't stand thieves!!!!

I can not stand thieves !!!! , just hope this does not happen to us

Not great for building trust among the average citizens....

@jgullinese that's really a lot, I hope they looking into it and profer a solution so it won't occur again. I guess d hackers are having a swell time now.

Hearing that Coincheck will repay in full the customer's loses really makes me happy we don't live in Mt. Gox time anymore.
