Massive impact that Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin could have on adult industry.

Free porn has been an issue since forever. Many people agree that it was a great idea, a win-win situation for both sides (adult companies and customers) at the moment where it has been invented, until it started demolishing itself.

For the past few years freemium stuff has turned against itself. Consumption has grown, more money has flown throughout advertisement platforms, more companies has changed their directions to online businesses and absorbed the free content policy. It’s been developing for couple of years but today the quality of the content has reached a peak down.

We see the same videos all over the internet uploaded multiple times, 65% of the adult content is about the same. Same scenes, same actors, same positions, same plots. What cause that? People who stopped being demanding? I don’t think so.

Main motto today that drives sites like PornHub, RedTube, xHamster or XNXX is “more views”. No matter what, just click more.

No wonder that the majority of adult media consumers accepted and got used to free and poor quality content. Why do I have to spend my hard-earned money for something that’s free? The problem is so deep-rooted in society that even premium content doesn’t work so well. They just don’t see the point in paying anymore.

But here comes cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin. They are easy to get, easy to invest, no restrictions or financial regulations, fully online. Simple processes that drives the value of each piece and which constantly achieve new price records on the market.

The biggest questions are: Are cryptocurrency is the same as currency? Do we spend that the same way we spend dollars or euros?

The biggest difference between typical currencies and cryptocurrency is the product physicality. With typical money bill in your hand, you were always taught about its value and importance. And the main way you were getting those bills was through hard work/job.

With virtual currency it’s opposite. Most people get their Bitcoins as a passive income. They are mining them with their hardcore machine setups at homes, while they are doing other things. All its need is time and solid amount of electricity. So the money comes fast and easy.

In my opinion those differences between types of how we earn those currencies defines our personal values that we assign to each of them. It will be harder for you to spend $1000 cash from your pay check in shop rather than stick you phone to terminal and pay $1000 in Bitcoins that you get seamlessly. Easy come, easy go, right?

Other thing is that (yet) you can’t pay for your car, mortgage, fridge or bills with Bitcoin. The only way to cash out is to find places that supports cryptocurrencies. And today you can pay with that only for things in couple of e-commerce stores and couple of services on the internet. Of course the number of places is growing rapidly from month to month but for a long time it won’t be only an alternative way of payment and for only a narrow segment of products that a consumer market gives us in general.

So following with this path we can ask ourselves: will it be easier for consumers to spend their virtual coins for entertainment like porn where they wouldn’t normally spend their job money? I think so.
