1- Coinbase and ivyKoin Consider Federal Banking Licenses
Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the U.S. is one of the crypto firms that is reportedly making preliminary inquiries for obtaining a bank license. According to reports, officials of the crypto exchange platform had a meeting with the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) earlier in 2018. Coinbase already services millions of customers through bank-enabled payment systems under the supervision of a dozen regulations.
2 - The first sole sovereign cryptocurrency has been signed into law today as the Marshall Islands - a sovereign state and UN member - has put in place a bill to make its national legal tender its own cryptocurrency.
Their new national cryptocurrency is called the Sovereign (SOV) and will be the official legal tender for businesses and the 53,000 citizens of the Pacific island.
3 - The Irish Revenue Commissioners have produced a guidance manual on the taxation of cryptocurrencies and anyone holding, trading or accepting cryptocurrencies should take note, as should their tax advisors.
4 - The National Securities Market Commission in Spain (CNMV) has clarified its position on registered funds investing directly in cryptocurrencies.
CNMV stated that these types of funds are allowed by Law 22/2014 to make investments in cryptocurrencies. According to Law 22/2014, investing in cryptocurrencies can be done through closed-end collective investment entities (EICC), closed-end investment funds (FICC) and closed-end investment companies (SICC).
5 - $XVG @vergecurrency is once again under attack, someone is 51%'ing the chain and invalidating all legit blocks. All pools and miners suffer from this, the attacker is getting all blocks currently.
