In 2017 we saw some GREAT technology emerge in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and from ICOs… and we saw some absolute garbage! A lot of absolute garbage. But the problem may not be that the ICOs were garbage… what if the problem was that the ICO was garbage and they told you it was great. Enter, Useless Ethereum Token.   In 2017 an ICO emerged with the website https://uetoken.com/ with a copyright “Some random person on the internet - All Right Reserved, including the right not to give back your money.” As the name implies, this new asset has no real purpose, it will not necessarily be valued, and it has actually been listed on exchanges despite the founders claim on his website stating, “In fact, if it does get picked up by any of the major exchanges, I promise to use some of the ICO proceeds to constantly and incessantly manipulate the market.” Despite the lack of attraction for investors, the creator of the Useless Ethereum Token raised over $257,563 through its ICO.

   WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT "INVESTORS"?   

 I honestly don’t know what this says about the market but it one of a few thing: 1) People are investing in memes and lolz – This is the optimistic guess. 2) People are just that stupid an/or bad investors – This is the pessimistic guess. 3) People are just that stupid an/or bad investors – This is the realistic guess.

It is evident that many people did not pay attention to what this project was or maybe they did, but they wanted to invest anyway. Even though his website was designed intelligently, the creator never shied away from mentioning that this token would never amount to anything. In fact, he made it clear that no one should buy this ICO or hope to use the token in the future. No one should be particularly surprised to learn that there are some people who bought this ICO, which allowed the "inventor" of the Useless Ethereum Token to collect more than S$ 300,000.   While everyone knew that this crowdsale would attract one or two capricious investors, nobody saw how big it would eventually turn out. The value of UET is guaranteed since it will not decrease after the ICO. In fact, the token has no value and, therefore, can only rise in price as time passes. This can only happen when people are willing to attribute value to a token that, as the name implies, has no real purpose. When all was said and done, the Useless Ethereum Token was an ICO which turned out more than successful, as they raised around US $300,000. As of now, each token is valued at $0.0414, with over 500 different addresses. Apparently anything that is labeled as ICO, blockchain or cryptocurrency will attract enough interest to capture some fools money.

     WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK ABOUT USELESS ETHEREUM TOKEN?  

 The inventor of the useless ethereum token obviously has a funny personality that was incorporated into his website (I laughed). He is also honest which is a lot better that all the crap out there like Bitconnect (although that is a meme coin at this point too). This may be one of the things that attracted people to this currency, but I am still betting on stupidity and poor financial decisions.    USELESS ETHEREUM TOKEN ICO   Although the crowdsale is over, investors recieved 100 UET for every 1 ETH contributed. Right now the coin is trading at $0.02

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

The Useless Ethereum Token has certainly set an interesting precedent for the blockchain industry as a whole. It is possible that anyone can create a new token from scratch and hopefully raise money promoting an ICO. More and more meme coins are being created and, despite being a joke. Some of them, like this one, can even gain traction and prices can grow in the market. However, what does the future hold for the useless ethereum token now that its label of being "useless" is gradually defeated? Will the developer release a useless update that will change the crypto-space as we know it. Well I for one don’t want to wait… I think I need to launch my own useless ICO.
