Make Money From sharing photos

Hello selfie and photo lovers. Today I discovered something amazing for all of you who love taking photos and selfies. I know one person who will certain love this, my wife, hahaha. She loves taking photos, actually the majority of ladies love taking photos. Admit it ladies, everytime you go out, be it to the mall to buy some groceries or window shopping, or hanging out with your friends at your favourite restaurant, you shoot dozens of pics.

There are hundreds of apps that are made for photo sharing. Instagram is by far the largest and most popular, snapchat is not far behind, ofcourse there's Facebook, Twitter and many others that I don't know. I know there are a lot of Steemians that are about to hunt me down right now because I did not include your favorite platform, Steemit. Yes on Steemit hundreds of photos are uploaded daily and there are dozens of photography contests on the platform. And people earn money with these.

Today I want to introduce you to something different. Selfllery, an app that will help users to monetize visual content.

SELFLLERY is a multifunctional social platform that allows you to receive rewards in
cryptocurrency for social activities related to publication and distribution of visual
content.

Some Stats

As technology keeps improving and the popularity of smartphones with built in cameras is ballooning, more and more photos are being taken each year. In 2017, it is estimated that over 1.2 trillion photos were taken and the trend will continue growing in 2018 and beyond. Cameras on smartphones are becoming more sophisticated and advanced with each subsequent model. This means the need for expensive DSLR cameras is slowly declining because one can just use their smartphone to capture some high resolution, professional looking pics.

If you go through steemit photography contents, you will discover that the majority of the entrants used their smartphones to take some really amazing pictures.

So where do these pics go?

As I have mentioned above, most of these pictures are shared by the users on social media and most of them will never bring a dime to the owner. They are just used by the platform owners to generate revenue for themselves and the owners get nothing from them. Steemit came along and changed things and set the stage, but Steemit is more of a blogging platform than a social media platform.

Monetizing photos up until recently has been very dificult and revenue either came from advertizing on photo websites/ apps or through direct selling of photos. This possed a barrier to entry for many photographers as selling stock photos requred specific resolutions and this meant using more expensive gear which the average photographer could not afford.

Selfllery intends to change how things work. In order for me not to sell them short, I will quote:

SELFLLERY provides an extensive toolset for user content monetization including:

  1. automated rewards in YOU (SELFLLERY money) tokens for Likes received
  2. an opportunity to sell photos in stock photo
  3. rewards for participating in advertising campaigns
  4. prizes for photo-quests
  5. rewards for participating in photo contests
  6. boosted multipliers for getting into the top-ratings and for frequent social
    activities.

User will earn YOU tokens for likes they receive, pretty much like it's done on Steemit. They can use these tokens to buy items on the Selfllery marketplace or trade these tokens and make income. How many tokens each like is worth depends on several factors like position in ratings and how many comments the user makes on the platform. The more popular you are, the more likes you get, the higher your ratings and the more tokens you will receive for likes.

The best thing about Selfllery is that everymonth they will donate 10% of their profits to charity organizations and they also encourage users to donate a percentage of their choosing to a charity of their choice.

Very interesting post @insculpt. Am I right to say that it looks like tokens only start generating from March 2018?
