Get involved in video production (trans-coding)

I pretty sure all of you have watched thousands if not millions of videos be it on Youtube, D-tube, Vimeo, Vk, Netflix, etc. We all use different kinds of devices, talk about mobile phones, tablets, PCs, Macs, TVs and all the fun stuff. Have you ever wondered how you can watch one video on so many different devices and get a good experience most of the time? Why are there so many video formats and which formats are the best for which devices?
I bet most of you don't care about all the technical stuff that goes on behind the scenes as long as you get to watch your favorite show, right. Well, I happen to part of this group, I don't care how the video was produced, who did what and how they did it. I just want to watch high-quality videos, period. If I don't get that, I will complain about it even if it's a free video.
