Deep Onion Releases v1.6.2 - Stealth addresses disabled temporarily because of a bug

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago

The DeepOnion Dev team has been very busy. They have released 3 versions of the wallet in a space of one month. The latest upgrade is not a mandatory one and it has a few improvements added to it. when version 1.6.1 was released, which was a mandatory upgrade, it was followed by a hardfork and we were all excited as it was bringing with it the much awaited Stealth Address protocol.

We dominate

Stealth addresses were working perfectly on the testnet and everything seemed good to go. Upon using it on the main-net, a bug was discovered and users were told not to use the feature until further notice. Some people who probably did not see the announcement went ahead and used the feature anyways. They will have to follow this technical tutorial here by @brakmic.

The dev team was able to discover the issue and they are working on the solution which will be implemented on the next hardfork. The recent most release comes with stealth addresses disabled to protect the funds of the users. The devs felt that it is not appropriate for them to keep interrupting users of the wallet by constantly releasing mandatory versions and so they decided to keep the enabling of the Stealth address feature for the next mandatory release.

Though we were all awaiting the Stealth Addresses, it is understandable that such unseen problems as this one do tend to delay important features from being released on time.
