Again an attack to MyEtherWallet

While a VPN service was compromised for five hours, MyEtherWallet (MEW) experienced another serious security breach.

By a hack attempt to steal cryptocurrency from MEW users, Hola (a free VPN service with fifty million users) was compromised. The regular users of MEW were not affected. But, the MEW users utilizing Hola during the five hours span could be in danger of losing their assets.

As a solution to this problem, MEW has urged those with Hola chrome extensions who have used MEW in the last 24 hours to transfer their funds to a different location.

For managing Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies, MEW allow users to access wallets to send and receive tokens. The nature of the service leaves too much room for potential hacks. This probably will be the reason for the threatening attack to MEW via third-party players.

In last February, Domain Name System (DNS) attacked $365,000 in digital funds of robbed people. This is a reminder that the safer options are cold hardware wallets, such as Trezor or Ledger than the hot wallets.
