How I got into crypto (it's addictive)
The first time I heard the word Bitcoin was in 2012. I read a bit about it back then but it didn’t interest me; everything I read was incomprehensible – way too technical.
In Q2 of 2016, I again heard of Bitcoin and it intrigued me so I did my research; I signed up on Bitbargain and Bittrex. I bought a small amount of Bitcoin on Bitbargain then I put a bit more in. I’ve carried on with my research. I’ve discovered Lykke; I’ve switched from Bitbargain to Lykke until I reached the maximum amount I was prepared to lose. Then, I found altcoins that caught my attention hence, without any question, I traded some of my Bitcoin to altcoins. I’ve invested in Antshares (which is now called NEO); OMG and other coins. I’ve diversified my portfolio which I think is healthy.
I am really glad to be part of this movement and I can see how cryptocurrency can transform the society.
I remember looking at Bitcoin when it was $1, not sure what year that was. I looked again when it was $100 and put a bid in for a miner on Ebay. I was outbid and gave up on that idea, huge mistake. Then I looked in October 2016 and thought the price was too high. Finally took the plunge in August last year and had to endure a near 50% slump in my initial investment. It soon came good and that experience was probably good for me. I hope we have lots of gains ahead.
It was nice that you didn't miss the boat. I think it was Q3 last year when Bitcoin price skyrocketed. I think with cryptocurrency, you just have to be brave to just jump into a coin straightaway :)
