Why decentralization can be a great thing for the world
With the recent ban of Crytpo and ICO related ads, by both Google and Facebook, it is clear that big companies are really afraid of decentralization taking over the world and hurting their businesses. Not just big companies, but also governments and banks are afraid of cryptocurrencies, as it is a threat to the fiat currencies issued by them.
The beauty of decentralization is that it gives power back to the people. For example, on Steemit, if you write good posts, you'll yourself benefit from it. On the other hand, Facebook has made billions without ever giving anything back to the users.
Similary, Jeff Bezos has now become the world's richest man through his company Amazon. However, if you look at Amazon, it is just another service oriented company. We could also have a decentralized equivalent of Amazon without the middleman. Similary, the bussiness of companies like Google and Uber, can also be replaced by decentralized systems.
The problem is that in the current system, big companies have monopoly, and due to that, self employment is difficult. In other words, generally, people are forced to be wage slaves for these big companies. Dencentralized based systems on the other hand, would encourage self employment. For example, If I have a lot of computers at my home, I could just rent my computational power. Similarly, If I have a lot of terrabytes worth of free space, I could also rent it out, and therefore make money from it.
Due to these reasons, it is no surprise that monopolistic companies like Google and Facebook, and even banks and governements, are so scared of cryptocurrencies and decentralization in general.
So, what do you guys think. How do you think decentralization would change the world. Do you think people would be able to shun these big companies and instead go for their decentralized counterparts? Or do you think that governments would put all sorts of bans to prevent decentralization?

Decentralization is seen as a good thing in the cryptocurrency world. It turns anything that’s normally controlled by overbearing centralized authorities into a slippery eel that’s hard to shut down on. Decentralization system allow far more privacy than centralized system like google, facebook which steals our enormous amount of data. And you are true that facebook and google are afraid that decentralized based search engines will take over their job. Google are fine with doing pornographic ads and banning crypto and ICOS related ads. They are already afraid of decentralized system.
Well said, friend. I really hope we break the shackles put on us by these monopolistic companies. Steemit is already giving a good competition to Facebook.
Steemit is awesome, and for sure has the potential to overtake Facebookand become the dominant platform that people use to share and consume content. Decentralized social media will be what people will be looking for in upcoming future🙂
It could be a great thing, but the banks and ones with all the money won't let it happen...
