Google bans crypto mining extensions in Chrome browser
Google has announced that it has banned cryptocurrency mining browser extensions from the Chrome store.
The US tech-giant said it has taken this decision because of recent rise in cases of cryptojacking, which is known as using other people’s computer systems to mine cryptocurrency.
Using malicious software or browser extensions, some people behind cryptojacking operations allegedly generate revenue by setting other people’s computer processors to mine cryptocurrency.
The mining extension ban comes less than a month after Google’s announcement about its plans to ban cryptocurrency-related advertisements.
