Seeking: Extremely Basic Crypto Advice

Ok, so, in short, I have absolutely zero basic knowledge of crypto currencies or how to begin to work with them. However, I am very interested, for several reasons.

For one, I have been told by essentially everyone I know who has invested in the crypto-world that I would be very good at it. I am abnormally good with numbers, and am pretty good at reading trends. I have also been told I would be very good at it given my patience to make educated decisions.

I will keep this brief; I have no clue where the fuck to even begin. I mean, I have ZERO knowledge when it comes to the subject. I have been sent a very small amount of ETH and that is my entire experience, I do not even know what websites I should join to use as exchanges.

I'd appreciate any nudge in the right direction. I am a pretty smart person, and can make good decisions, but I want to hear from an actual person where to even begin.

Thank you :) Here are some random pictures I've taken

Start with Coinbase as an online exchange, and google hardware wallets. Exchanges are great if you only have under $100 ish to invest, over that you'll want a hardware wallet.

Also, don't invest more than you have to lose, but any extra you have invest and hodle! "weird way to say hold, as in long-term" :)

I have set up a small mining rig and am currently mining monero. I have built up to over $1000 through some mining on desktop cpu's and trading / lending on poloneix. I'm no rockerfella but I'm more of a hobby miner.

Do you have an article or post about your mining setup? I'm interested.

Not yet, I am only new enough to the platform but I'll be sure to write one up. I am actually waiting on a new GPU to arrive so I can add that on a usb riser. and double my hashrate.

Hit me up with a follow and you'll find out when my post is up.

Do you have access to any hardware at present?

I don't have any hardware access, no, but I am interested in mining.

Lookin forward to your article

Cool, Ill be sure to tag you when its done. I'll wait for the card to arrive so I can do some pics with it.

Another thing I have found is to use lending on the likes of poloniex, you'll get much better APR there than any bank and much less risk than trading. Of course you have to invest money there I.E. buy some crypto.

Turn your ETH into Steem!!! Steem is a winning Crypto and a Winning Platform!!!

Do you want to mine it or invest in it?

Both! Investing was my original intent(I have very little to invest, however) but I am also interested in mining.

While unnecessary to know for making profit from the relative novelty of this system, I think researching the likely implications of a widespread adoption of blockchain is a good time investment to make sure that your more "traditional" industry isn't on the chopping block.

I am new to crypto and absolutely NOT a numbers person, but I gave been investing learning rather than capital into crypto up until joining steemit. Now, I don't have the fear of missing out (FOMO) on deciding which coin to buy; we are mining right now, our opinions and knowledge shared are what is creating value.

I have been sharing a TED talk that I felt was a good entry-level discussion. Looking forward to trying to learn some number-related stuff from you soon!

thank you. this is exactly what i am looking for, some good entry-level stuff to research to further my general knowledge. id like to feel like i know what I'm doing before getting to into it.

i will certainly look into these things. thanks again! hopefully soon ill have some good number stuff for you.
