DAV Network: A Decentralized Network for the Transportation Industry

Transportation plays an integral role in human day to day activities. Vehicles are instruments of transportation and they provide an avenue for individuals to move goods, services from one place to another. We have different forms of vehicles for transportation on land, air, and water, all devised to guarantee users a superior experience, speed, and convenience. Technological advancement has led to superior designs of vehicles e.g drones, robotics and autonomous vehicles. These inventions have the tendency to take away need for human dependency, save cost and provide adaptable delivery of goods and services. Notable companies have already gone into the development of various self-driven, unmanned vehicles and these inventions have proven to have all the useful ingredients to face-lift the transportation industry but nevertheless, the lingering problems of the transportation industry still propose a challenge on the efficacy of this emerging market. The transportation industry lacks a payment system with 100% transparency, is also bedevilled with the presence of middlemen in the industry and the absence of a network between all drivers, passengers and other stakeholders in the transportation industry tends to affect the quality of service rendered.

Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency have proven to be an invaluable tool in every industry it gains deployment. DAV Network is an open source platform developed to create a decentralized marketplace for transportation services. DAV Network through its implementation of blockchain and smart contracts restructures the manned transportation system we have today and creates a framework for autonomous and self-driving vehicles of the future. asides from the cost reduction drones and other self-driven/ autonomous vehicles propose, they have already started gaining other use cases in the commercial industry and attaining legal commercial uses due to the ease, flexibility, and adaptability they propose.  DAV network seeks to create a decentralized ecosystem that encourages new players in the transportation industry, cooperation among stakeholders in the industry and a payment/reward system for both consumers who demand transportation of goods and services and other participants in the transportation industry. Aside from consumers on the platform, the DAV network will also consist of vehicle providers, infrastructure providers, service providers, manufacturers, insurance providers, arbitrators and software/hardware developers.

Key Features of DAV Network

 DAV network is powered by a stack of open-source software and this software perpetuate the following functions.

1.  Identity Authentication: This feature identifies and stores every participant on the DAV network identity via the Ethereum blockchain and creates means of tracking such users.
2. Discovery protocol: This feature allows DAV identities (autonomous vehicles) to discover each other, service providers and as well clients in need of transportation in a peer to peer network.
3.  Communication protocol: This feature allows the communication between different participants on the platform via either smart contracts or by nodes. This feature enables different entities on the DAV platform to communicate with one another. The communication protocol aids the fulfillment of every mission right from the bidding for service to actual payments.
4. Payment system: The payment system of the DAV network is based on the DAV token. DAV tokens are erc-20 tokens built based on the ethereum blockchain. DAV token will serve as the native currency of the platform and will be used for payment of services provided on the DAV network. All participants on the DAV network will receive funds in the form of DAV token and this guarantees a more secure, swift and transparent means of payment for goods and services compared to what is obtainable in the traditional transport system. Asides from being a tool for payment, DAV token is also used for fueling the DAV ecosystem via incentives, rewards and bounties in order to aid the adoption of this new technology and to develop the DAV community.
