well we all saw that. This night(mere) had no end for some people seeing their savings melting away...
Well, my opinion is that it has a lot to do with the slack-phishing attacks took place over the last days.
A lot of people were hacked by clicking on the phishing mails which circulated on the slack channels.

So they really stolen a lot, enormous amounts of Tokens and currency the of course needed to exchange.
All traces end into exchange markets.
The attack had only to do with ETHEREUM tokens, so finally all tokens were based on ETH.
This is also a reason why Bitcoin did not suffer so much loss as ETH.
The corresponding ETH-Tokens were all suffering.
Think only at TNX, SNT, MCO, GNT, just to name a few.
They needed to sell all stolen tokens and then the price went down, as more Bid then Ask...
Not knowing about this, other people started to sell also in the hope to still take some money before all crashes.
Last, but not least: have a look at this account. At the moment there is nothing more left. All sold (see Total Out:).
I.e. Veritaseum (VERI) was over 208US$ yesterday at 22:04 UTC ? This hacker had over 814 of them ( worth: 169'312 US$) and sold everything out ?
Or have a look at this output (it's the same account, that's right !)
So I think the whole market will come back soon. Only remaining to say is that you should NEVER, EVER use a stolen/hacked MEW (MyEtherWallet), create a new one and think not only once, but three times if you click on a link from slack...

Both work with ERC20 Tokens, so you can safely store them there.
Finally I want to spread the word from MEW. They have in between an excellent list with hacker-MEW accounts and movements.

The stolen coins had nothing to do with it. In the past couple of weeks the crypto ecosystem lost over $20 BILLION in marketcap. A couple hundred K of stolen coins does not cause that.
From this point of view, yes, but I'm talking about yesterday's loss. All exchanges were done yesterday night. And there are a lot of hacker accounts with no tokens in it. The ecosystem could lose marketcap, but some win, some lose. This morning were only 3 Currencies showing a gain over last 24 hours.... We have over 800 currencies, and only three went up last 24 hours ?? There must be more than the "normal" movements... My opinion.
