Announcement: TRON Mainnet

TRON founder Justin Sun announced the launch of the TRON mainnet on Twitter yesterday. The full conference can be viewed here.

Announcement: Oyster Mainnet

Oyster announced the launch of its mainnet via Medium today. Users can host files for free - up to 5MB for the time being while the development team addresses bottleneck issues in their database protocols. Additionally, the team plans to publish performance metrics for the mainnet on their website.

Launch: Storiqa Beta

Storiqa, a “global marketplace” for goods which accepts cryptocurrency payments, has launched its beta site. While most of the homepage links don’t lead anywhere, the marketplace functionality appears to be up and running.

Release: Zcash 1.1.1

Zcash has released an update to its node software. There will be no changes to the Zcash mainnet, but the testnet will activate “Sapling consensus rules” for testing and feedback. The Sapling network upgrade is intended to improve both security and performance, the latter addressing a major concern for Zcash network participants. ARK v2 CodeBase Release Date

Spoiler alert: June 14th, 2018. The codebase update will be available on Github and available for use on the ARK DevNet. ARK will provide instructions for upgrading nodes to users currently running v1. The v2 codebase is being released for public testing in preparation for the eventual mainnet launch.

MatrixAI Testnet, Mainnet Launch Dates

Matrix AI published a Q&A to their Github addressing popular user questions. Among the answers: The testnet launch is planned for September 2018, with mainnet release scheduled for December. Announcement: Genesis Market Release Date

Genesis Markets, a project aiming to create “crypto brokers” to make the space more accessible to investors used to a traditional trading platform, will launch on June 7th, 2018. The Markets will provide aggregate data, pricing, and trading instruments for traders. Full details can be found in the Genesis source link above.

EOS Constitution Under Fire

Nick Szabo, calling the latest draft of the EOS constitution "human-interpreted wet code," re-tweeted a thread from user panek detailing a point-by-point criticism of the constitution. Both users claim the current draft makes EOS permissioned and "jurisdictionally biased," with panek citing the author of the draft - a Products VP from block.one - as a particular point of poor (and centralized) governance.

Bittrex Partners with U.S. Bank to Offer USD Trading Pairs

Seattle-based cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex has announced it will offer USD trading pairs to corporate investors in Washington, New York, California, and Montana, with intent to eventually expand the offering to other customers.The agreement may signify a changing of attitudes towards the viability of cryptocurrencies by mainstream financial institutions.

Announcement: ICONOMI Fiat Gateway

ICONOMI announced today Over-the-Counter transactions, the first stage of its plan to create a “fiat ramp-up” for users. An OTC trade allows users to purchase cryptocurrencies using their bank account with an immediate transfer to their ICONOMI wallets. The OTC transactions currently have a minimum requirement of 50,000 EUR for deposits and withdrawals.

Huobi Expands to Brazil

Taking another step towards reaching a global presence, Chinese cryptocurrency exchange Huobi has announced its plans to expand to Brazil. Huobi has reportedly set up shop in the capital city of São Paulo and is looking to hire.

Partnership: DNB & IOTA

Norway’s largest financial services group has partnered with IOTA, with DNB expressing interest in the IOTA Tangle distributed ledger technology. DNB will look to IOTA to to help guide development of “future revenue streams and business models” based on blockchain technology.

Electroneum Network Forks

Electroneum issued a request for help to mining pool owners on its Facebook page, offering extra rewards to miners on the newly-forked network. In response to “substantially longer than usual” block mining times following the fork, miners appear to have abandoned the network, presumably unhappy with the ratio of work to reward.

Waves Platform Responds to Bankruptcy Rumors

Blockchain platform Waves responded to rumors of bankruptcy today, stating that “Waves Platform remains fully active.” They attribute the rumors to the non-renewal of their UK-based entity, as company headquarters relocated to Switzerland last year.

THEKEY AMA Postponed After Testnet Wins National Award

CEO Catherine Li announced that her Reddit AMA will be postponed until June 5th, 2018 at 8:00pm (GMT +8) due to the national award received by the MVP/Testnet following its launch.

Ripple CEO Sees End of BTC Price Infuence

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse says he thinks altcoins’ correlation with the price of BTC will begin to weaken as the market becomes more comfortable with the differences between various digital assets.

Monster Products to Launch $300 Million ICO

Monster Products, known mostly for its production of audio and video cables and accessories, has announced its plans for an ambitious $300 million ICO. They will look to fund the Ethereum-based project by offering “Monster Money Tokens” for $1 each, with the aim of launching a global e-commerce blockchain solution.

New Vermont Law to Permit Blockchain-Based LLCs

Vermont governor Phil Scott has signed into law a bill allowing the establishment of blockchain-based limited liability companies (BBLLCs). BBLLCs will be required to disclose the nature of decentralization of ledger technology (full or partial) as well as whether the ledger will be public or private and the extent to which users can access and write information on the blockchain.

McAfee Launches Promissory Notes

John McAfee has launched an eponymous Promissory Note, the “world’s first cryptocurency backed fiat note.” The team claims that the notes are “100% guaranteed as forgery proof” and that each paper note is backed by tokens on the blockchain. Notes are redeemable for digital tokens, or for face time with McAfee himself. Check out the source link above for some… colorful examples of the notes (and we mean that in every sense of the word).

Which mainnets are you most excited for? It's going to be a fun summer.

Augur, Aragon, Golem. I want to see some projects that could not be done before crypto.

A key concept behind Golem is that miners (providers) need to be incentivized to provide computing time. Before crypto convincing providers to provide their CPU time would be a problem. Crypto provides the economic incentive enables these types of distributed networks.

Good point, and good projects. I'm also interested in seeing where those go.
