Yaron Brook Best Captures the Value of Cryptocurrencies

For Full Independence

I'm a full individualist. I believe in bootstrapping, not taking shit from anyone, building up your own value in society, and making the biggest impact you can before you drop dead in whatever amount of years. I absolutely despise people that blame others for their misfortunes or “lack of privilege” or constantly whine about not getting what they think they deserve. I don't believe anyone owes you anything in life and the full onus of responsibility rests squarely on your shoulders. If you misspeak or make a mistake, own up to it; if you stumble along the way, pick yourself up and go at it harder than before.

So naturally, I'm a big fan of figures and academics like Yaron Brook. He lectures with full confidence, evident in the bulging vein on the right side of his neck. He powers through his Israeli accent to deliver a powerful message to his students and listeners, one of self discipline and forward-thinking ambition. I listen/watch speakers like him, Gary Vaynerchuck, etc. on a daily basis and fully respect those who make their own bull run through life.

I recently watched a televised debate between him and a law professor at Yale University. The discourse, titled “,” was concerning the growing level of inequality in the modern world and whether this needed to be an actionable situation. They debated the usual suspects such as free market growth, government regulation, inherent systematic prejudices/privileges, and why these discrepancies come about.

At one point during the ending Q&A, Brook brought up the idea of fiat currencies and what they symbolize (for him) in today's global market. The following clip (timestamped video) is a few minutes and I highly recommend a watch -

To clarify, I believe what Brook means in his support for “privatized currency” is not one produced by a corporation but one that is self-organizing and escapes government regulation. Cryptocurrency is a “private” currency in that sense, owned not by a central authority but by thousands/millions of small-scale holders that collectively decide how the currency develops.

Fiat is a regulatory tool, not a tool of wealth or empowerment. It in itself means nothing, does nothing. In fact, just holding fiat in your wallet, under your mattress, or in a bank will signify the depreciation of your wealth and capacity over time.

This theme was a major article that @voronoi and I expressed in our @sndbox article “The Biggest Problem with Cryptocurrency is that it is Called Cryptocurrency”. Since the introduction of fiat, diverse industries with varying levels of value at different stages were increasingly homogenized in comparison to each other. A custom suit or delicious meal were no longer negotiable bundles of value but now systematized by a central authority to what equals what. That's why, no matter what you eat for lunch in New York, anything more than $10-12 is seen as expensive for most, regardless of what the meal or experience surrounding it is. 20 lunches = premade suit = 1 month apartment utilities. This way of thinking and operating absolutely obliterates the wonderful quality of negotiating value in an actually free market.

Towards True Value and Freedom

We'll soon live in a world where it will be easier for anyone and everyone to determine their own creative and professional value. I can imagine a future where anyone can mint their own 'currency' (i.e. with SMTs, ERC20s, NEO derivatives, etc.) and be fully in control of what their worth is in the world. This is bright future that will encourage 100% bootstrapping and not be strapped down by burdensome fiat.

Anyway, let me know what you think below!

"I don't believe anyone owes you anything in life"
This exactly. Lots of people think they are special and don't understand why things aren't the way they want. Well they are forgetting that they don't matter in the grand scheme of things...
Thanks for the video by the way, I'll try to check that guy when I have more time :')
